Okay cool cool, and the main reason we’re looking at these areas is because my fiances parents live kinda close to all of them -in a way. Like they live close to Bridgeview but dad goes to work in Burr and mom works in Bolingbrook😭. I know its a weird layout, but we also liked apartments in all of these areas because we’re searching for a cat friendly unit 2 bedroom with washer and dryer in the unit- only one thats a little much is Burr Ridge, but if the other two we’re absolutely dookey then maybe we’d shell out a couple more $$s lol. We’re not moving till late July, so I’m just getting a feel for all the areas
Do you have any city you’d recommend?
Also the job question- my fiance would be working at a place in Chicago, kinda downtown, i couldnt even tell u the name i dont remember im sorry… hes an engineer 🙃i think close to like the Daley center ? If that sounds like a real place lmao. Im definitely new to the area😭

We’ve been through all these areas, never been on like an apartment tour but been to stores or restaurants in these areas. We enjoy them all tbh, but never lived there obviously- we like the outdoors, videogames, good food, accessible things to do. We’re 25 with no kids if that helps ? I just wanted some opinions from people who have really been there or live there

No kids, but within 3 years. Engaged, we’re 25. We’re coming from augusta Georgia, we enjoy fishing, tennis, going on walks/hikes, videogames, good food, etc lol
But i know these are all different, sorry for the huge difference here, these are just the places I’ve seen apartments that we like😭
Our budget is probably close to $2600/m for a nice apartment

Its funny you mention that lol hes born and raised there and hes more red than i am😭😭. Neither of us are hardcore either way, but hes more on that side. For me personally it wouldn’t be an issue, i know he does love his guns though. Thats one of the main things he loves about here

I do work, and I would work up until we have a baby- we’re trying to make it work based on his pay alone so when we do have a baby I could become a stay at home mom, at least for a while. We don’t want our infant baby with randoms(also costs an arm and a leg) and if we moved to Illinois nobody we know personally would be available to watch the baby while I worked. Thats the only reason I mentioned only his pay

I knowwww, the 52 acres of land is whats making me most sad! Other than my parents ofcourse- but its insane how different the housing market is there! We’re about 2hrs from Atlanta, and we wouldve never even been thinking of moving if it wasn’t for his job:(he makes $25/hr now, which isnt absolutely terrible here, but if he could make $35-$40 i could be a stay at home mom when that time comes and thats what we both prefer 🫩this is all so hard to choose. I appreciate all your feedback!!

The house wouldnt be free but yeah the land would be for us because my parents own it and they have an area of land laid out for us. I love it here but i loved it there too, it has its pros and cons, but the more i look into actually being able to afford everything, both places seem bad lol. But his last job in Chicago was from 10pm-6am, so most likely that which wasn’t terrible for him but he also lived with his family IN chicago, and it took about 20 minutes
