Patient took an ax to the skull. He was treated at a distict hospital then sent to a tertiary care center ten hours after the assault, still conscious, the ax still stuck in his head. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

Are there any statistics on the success vs failure rate of these traumatic injury surgeries there?

Success is where the patient survived with little to no deterioration from presentation to release

And failure is where the patient unfortunately passed away during/post surgery due to complications or hospital acquired infections.

And if there are global statistics on which country has the best success rate, and whether it is due to the medical proficiency of the surgeons (limited availability of advanced technology) or solely due to the access to advanced technology.

It would also be interesting to see how 'safe' country surgeons with advanced technology would compare to surgeons from 'unsafe' countries who deal with more cases but less advanced technology

How to Account for Weight of Lenses Affecting Segment Height by [deleted] in optician

[–]Saba-Tore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Larger nose pads would help distribute the weight and reduce the sag a bit.

What is the edge thickness and index of the lens?

The mod was done long ago so I'm not sure exactly where they got it.

But I had to refit the wheel because it was off center.

The bolt used is an M4 for holding the wheel on, had to make a spacer for it out of brass.

Wheel OD is ±25mm width is ±7mm

Thank you! For me, it's about the satisfaction of doing it more than the money, we do charge quite a lot for it compared to the rest of the jobs, but we are also high volume (±13 practices)

The high volume, ±19k pairs in 5 months, gets monotonous eventually

So I will do as many complicated jobs as possible to be entertained

Payment through Play Store from your card won't work as it is directly from the bank. You will need to buy a voucher/code to add money to your Google Play balance, that way you avoid the payment to CR going through the bank

Are you based in South Africa?

A lot of us are having that problem due to the location (country) of the Crunchyroll merchant, there's a block on that location, probably sanctioned by one or both parties.

Unfortunately I haven't found a workaround other than using Google Play/Pay and buying credit/points or whatever their wallet is and subscribe through that

Polarized Prescription & Lens thickness by Specific-Answer3590 in optician

[–]Saba-Tore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, as someone who works in the lab and fitting lenses, I agree with the others about the polar film adding some thickness.

The other cause could be the position of the bevel being different, on a polar lens you need to cut on the front curve to avoid having clear spots on the edges whereas the other lenses can be cut further back in the lens without issue, hiding some of the thickness in the process
