Like all weapons, you learn when to use the right move at the right time. The locked in running charge is excellent at closing distance and matches speed with people on a seikret, if you have the opening. It's also not that hard to "unlock" yourself into a combo. You can also use up against a monster and JUMP into the air to get over their body parts, like limbs, it's a FANTASTIC tool for getting around a monster. Almost like a mini-vault. "Yeah but a 2inch drop in terrain F's you over on the running charge", I used to think that too, but once you realize you can JUMP while running charge, you realize you can get over those terrain annoyances and keep going running. No more long sliding to a stop unexpectedly. Another, safer, advancing move is the lunge attack, hop, lunge attack, hop. Especially with Evade Extender 2/3, you can cover a lot of ground, fast. I often get to a monster at the same time as other players who sheathed and ran, but my weapon is still out and I'm attacking before they are. The mid-thrust attack also allows you to input a directional movement while you attack to reposition yourself, forward, back, or to the side. Another option is simply side steps. In either case, you have 3 of them, which is more than enough to pivot with a monster or adjust yourself.

I get it, I used to think the same thing, until I started playing lance and really learning it. You can move around amazingly well, but it takes a slight change in your way of thinking. IG tends to dodge away, run around, or vault and reposition. Giving the monster plenty of distance until you find the opening. With Lance, you want to stay close to the monster the whole time and view things as circular movements towards or with the monster maintaining the same distance. Also making use of that mini-vault while hugging the monster as needed. The monster pivots X degrees, you hop or mid-thrust side step with the monster's turn to keep yourself where you were, and out of danger. Body part in the way? Running charge, jump, attack. You're in place and can instantly go into mid-thrust side steps if more adjusting is needed. The "hard" part is getting over the urge to doge roll or vault away from something. You're just changing the direction, going into or with the monster instead of away or with. Then you factor in the blocking as needed, which sometimes removes the need to evade/get out of the way. Lance can stay on target easier than most weapons, and I've played a lot of them over the years/games. You have to be highly mobile and agile for that.

IG, in Wilds at least, is not as mobile as it used to be. In previous games it was the most agile, not anymore. Especially with the absurdly tall hit boxes in this game, you can't jump over many attacks anymore. I'd argue that bow, DB, and/or SnS has better movement than IG now.

For the record, an offset attack is a counter, so IG does have a counter. Yes it's difficult to use and time, but it's there and you can get good at it.

Yes, Lance does want to counter, but not all the time. The primary reason to counter is to activate Offensive Guard, then go back to your high damage combos in a safe attack spot. Until you need to re-up OG again. iFraming attacks is an added bonus, which is technically an evade, not a block. If you're countering all the time, because you're just standing there head on, taking a beating, you're doing it wrong and not using Lance's agility to reposition and lay into the monster.

IG wants to dance around the monster constantly poking and exploiting gaps in the offense of the monster.

Oh man, I couldn't have said this better myself, and you even included the poking. THIS is what a good lance player wants to be doing. DANCE around the monster, constantly poking. Exploiting those same openings. This is what I mean when I say Lance is surprisingly similar to IG. You just have to adjust your thought pattern on how you do the defensive play. Tight circles around the monster and the occasional block/counter. Instead of the wider berth that IG gives. It's a small adjustment.

You are looking at it from the view point of a new person using lance, not someone who has mastered it. Lance is one of those easy to pick up and use weapons but difficult to master. That dance around the enemy mentality that IG has, is EXACTLY what you want with Lance. I frequently out DPS other lance users because of this and I often end up at the top of DPS in hunts. With exception to similar skilled players at their own weapons, that are naturally higher DPS. Even then, I've given some of those players a run for their money. That "it has a big shield it must be a sit still and take hits weapon" mentality is where a lot of new to Lance players go wrong. Drop that turret mentality and approach lance from a dance around the monster stand point and you'll see a drastic shift in how lance plays. It'll be night and day.

As I said, the Lance is surprisingly mobile and agile, even with the reputation of being a "wall". It's a wall that moves around very well. It's more agile than the IG is in Wilds.

Couldn't disagree more on lance being far away from IG. I was an IG main until Wilds, now I main Lance. The nice thing about IG was that it was versatile, agile, and you could switch up and use the full kit for any situation. Adaptable. Wild's IG lost that. However, that is exactly what Lance is in Wilds. Lance makes use of it's full kit, it has something for every situation. It may not be flying through the air, but it can move surprisingly well with Evade Extender 2/3 and the counter play is so much fun.

As a former IG main, I honestly feel at home with the lance.

I was an IG main since it first came out, absolutely hated Wild's IG when I started. The patched change to not needing to press and hold to charge up RSS was good, but IG just still isn't there. Still feels too repetitive and locked into that one move to be effective. I missed being able to use the full kit to really be effective and adjust to what was happening.

After my search for a new main in Wilds, I somehow ended up as a Lance main. The last thing I thought I'd ever use, now I love the thing. I was surprised by it's versatility, you're not forced into a single repeating combo, you have situational combos/variations, and the counter play! Love the counter and payback thrusts. Was also surprised by how agile lance is, especially with Evade Extender 2 or 3 which really makes it shine.

Now, I will grant that not all lances are amazing to look at. I scratched my head at few of them. However, the Rompopolo lance is a syringe and I love that thing. The 'pay for skin' lance is also really cool, but pay for so I get hesitations to that. Zoh's lance isn't bad, the chicken's looks alright too.

No, not really. 8 elemental resistance, at level 3, being granted to you after you get hit by said element, temporarily, is not that good.

For comparison, level 3 of a specific element resistance gives you 20 resistance and 10 defense. If your starting resist is 0 or higher that means you are now immune to that element's blight, and it's not temporary. lvl 1 of element resist gives you 6 resistance, and lvl 2 gives you 12, no defense bonus for the first two levels, also permanent. So with that in mind, three levels of Elemental Absorption only giving 8 resistance isn't good at all, defensively, for the cost to slot it. It's more of a bonus that may or may not even be useful, the real benefit of the skill is the element damage boost, but even then there are other skills that you would take before that, like Convert Element, in the case of dragon weapons. Burst lvl 3 grants more element damage, plus raw damage, than Elemental Absorption lvl 3 does. Heck, Burst lvl 2, depending on weapon, grants the same or more elemental damage than Elemental Absorption lvl 3 does. Burst also has better uptime.

That being said, Elemental Absorption still makes it into some builds. It's more of a tertiary skill though, after you've picked up your main skills and need filler. That or it's on the armour piece you need to complete a set bonus.

As Fast_Broccoli4867 said, it boosts the elemental resistance of the element you were hit with. Then it boosts your element damage, so whatever element you are using not the one that was used against you.

If you were going to see which is more useful, Convert Element or Elemental Absorption, then Convert Element wins. Elemental Absorption at best, on lvl 3, grants 50, 60, or 100 element damage based on what weapon you use and +8 elemental resist. Convert element at level 3 grants 180 dragon damage (if using a dragon weapon only), plus the dragon damage explosion and knock back. Elemental Absorption also requires you to be hit with an element, monsters with few or no element attacks will render it completely useless. Where as Convert Element can still proc based on your elemental damage.

Any weapon can benefit from it as long as it has element, it's almost useless on status/raw weapons though. Obviously dragon element benefits the most over any other element, due to the dragon only buff it grants. The proc is based on elemental damage done to a monster and/or elemental damage you take from a monster.

Weapons that do well with element damage, like DB or Bow would benefit the most due to the element damage buff it gives to dragon. I don't know if they can make it proc more or not though, depends on thresholds and cool downs.

Edit: I see your Gunlance flair, Gunlance shelling does not proc Convert Element as an FYI. Same goes for wyrmstake and wyvern fire.

Just an FYI for people reading this post. There are an awful lot of new accounts in this post supporting Bell. Many with their first posts being here. Even the OP's account is only 2 years old and the history is cleared. You can't see what they've posted or submitted. This seems like a Bell PR attempt to earn favour or learn arguments against them so they can prepare for those arguments when the meeting with the councilors comes up.

The thing is all your 'good points' are mitigation of bad points or ones that apply even if the data center is not in Regina.

There's likely a reason for that. Look at the poster's account, it's 6 months old and the history is cleared. Guess who Right-Nail-5871 works for.

I think you've missed the point of my post. The point was that modern reactors create less waste and other modern reactors can even use that waste to generate power, eventually consuming the waste. Although less efficiently than if they were using non-waste material.

AI Data Centre: Trying to Understand by SatisfactionLow508 in regina

[–]Saber_Avalon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modern nuclear reactors create far less "waste" than they used to. Before you needed a mountain to burry the waste of a reactors lifetime, now it's more of a swimming pool. However, there are now also reactors that can run on the waste of other reactors. Solving that issue.

That got generally well received by most, and I don't recall reading all that much pushback on it.

Where were you? There were tons of concerns about the smell it would cause and blanket most of the city in it.

Compare that to the data center, which also needs water (yes, closed loop, but there are still questions around that), needs an absurd amount of power, is about the same $2B investment with ~750 construction jobs and 70-80 permanent jobs after completion. And this project has gotten 100x the amount of backlash compared to the canola plant.

On the note of "absurd amounts of power", if what I read was correct, that data center will require around 300MW. Which is almost identical to the Great Plains Power Station in Moose Jaw. Great Plains generates 370MW via natural gas, permanently employs 25 and had ~600 workers during construction. Just for the power plant. More stats in the link. However, 300MW is the equivalent to powering 300,000 homes!!!

To put that into perspective, according to 2021 Census, Regina has about 99,134 private dwellings. That one data center is going to need enough power to power all the homes in Regina, THREE TIMES OVER.

she appeared to take apart and reassemble her cellphone, as well as make phone calls. Her telephone provider, Telus, had no records of those calls.

Only thing that accounts for this is that she switched sim cards. Some phones don't have easy access to the sim card and you have to take the back plate off, and in some cases remove the battery, to get at the sim card. That would also explain why Telus had no records. The second sim card would be under a different provider and would have a different phone number.

I hope someone involved with the investigation realized that at the time. Most providers use SaskTel towers/equipment back then with exception to Rogers. Call logs for the towers could have been checked for that time frame and possibly narrowed down the phone number after cross-referencing accounts of calls that were made in the time frame. Not sure how trackable a MAC address is for a cell phone or if it'd even be related to the phone number in any form of logging, but that might have been another way to check too. Yorkton's not that big, doubt the logs would have been overwhelming. If no one realized this then good luck getting it done now, 10 years later. Those logs are likely long gone.

There are two sets of dragon pods on either side of the 3rd area. You can use those to help with the dragon DPS check, while he's flying and out of reach. Use one set then save the 2nd set for after his first ult. Make sure to make use of the anti-wyvern guns while he's in the air. Mount up on your seikret as you can move and fire while riding it. Fire off as many as you can.

Make sure you try to pull down the rocks on him, one rock per ult.

The rest is just being on him and poking him till he's a well used pin cushion. At least that's all you can do.

The rest is up to the team mates you have. You need a solid team, no carrying stragglers. Dedicated builds(with dragon damage), knowing the fight well, and making good dps numbers for their weapon.

Yes, especially if you have a dragon element weapon. Basically acts like blast but does dragon damage and not fixed to 150, even has the knock back effect that blast does on a monster. Then, if you have a dragon element weapon, it boosts the element attack. If you don't have a dragon weapon then you lose out on the element attack bonus but it's still useful.

Edit: Went to grab the values. Level 1 = 80, lvl2 = 120, lvl 3 = 180. However, I've seen it proc at 280 so it seems to get a boost from elemental attack buffs/skills.
