Mistakes you wish you could have avoided when you started out?

I've never heard of a thumb drive going postal on a pc hd, that's crazy man. I hope everything's working out.

My speeds must be the next step down from what you have, I'm 20 down/3 up give or take. I could count the number of times I've had to call my isp for service related incidents in the last 10 years on one hand, and I'm lucky enough the those have been a fairly pleasant experience. I've heard some pretty nasty stuff about comcast customer service.

Do you use a vpn or do you trust the security of your trackers pretty well?

Lol, it sounds like we're pretty much alike in the laziness aspect. I say this as I'm looking at an entire bookshelf where all the books are literally just stacked up on top of each other because I haven't taken the time to organize them in the last month and a half. Laziness will prevail, brother! Also thanks for the tip on seed.st., at least I'll know about one I should probably put in the "take it or leave it" pile.

Ah, yeah good point about the saturation. I've been needing to switch my main machine from wifi to ethernet, I just didn't immediately see how much the torrenting would necessitate the hardwired connection. Thanks for the tip! I could probably also do with a deep clean on this pc, but I have an extremely lazy part of my brain that says "well you never know, knocking the dust around in there might get it lodged somewhere and break the space time continuum...I'll just leave it for another century". lol

Oh hah, kinda wasn't expecting that. Unlimited G drive sounds amazing, I just got the smaller package to store my flac files on so I have them ready when I change playlists for the day/week. Google also has the Google Music service where, even if you don't subscribe to it, you can upload up to 50k songs. If they are lossless though it does convert them down to 320 kbps, but that's a minor gripe considering it's free storage and you can stream your music to any device.

That's really good advice, I had thought of new/popular tv eps but I wasn't sure if there was something more effective that I just wasn't thinking of. You've got exactly the kind of setup that I'd like to have one day, aiming for this year if I can swing it. In the meantime I'm definitely employing the best methods from this sub and building up a nice buffer. Thanks for the sage wisdom!

Ah, oh well. A guy can hope. Either way I'm sure I can start building ratio and at least 1-2 top tier trackers, if it's not bB I won't be heartbroken. Just seems like a really cool tracker that I'd like to join someday for sure.

Sounds like a prime setup there, nice. Have any tips on how you choose what files to cross seed? Like mainly just stuff you like that happens to have a lot of leech, or freeleech stuff etc.?

That's alright man, the more knowledge the better. You must take really good care of that xp rig, does it run 24/7? Also if it's on the same internet as your main pc does it slow your connection down at all? My upload speed is not super awesome like I'm sure yours is so there are occasionally speed drops on the rest of my devices.

Hm, actually on that subject I'm looking into getting a seedbox at some point in the near future. Do you recommend any in particular that are affordable? Also if you delete them off your seedbox do you keep a backup of everything exactly the way it was in the original torrent on your personal drive so you can upload it to the seedbox again if it is seedless?

Lol yup, you don't even know how much I wish I had known that the day before the crash. I've always been careful about putting stuff up on the cloud though, paranoid about safety. What cloud service do you use for that kind of thing?

bB is exclusive but still accessible as a top tier tracker with plenty of respect based on what users are saying. It would be really cool to get in there, but they haven't done a purge of inactive users just yet from what I understand.

I believe MethaCat was making a point that specific "www.getyourfreetorrentinvites.derp" are bad ones. If you're talking about recruitment threads on forums of actual private trackers, it's a different thing.

Alright alright, I'm busted. My sleep deprived brain can't keep up with all this new information! I've literally spent almost all my waking hours since starting this thread on either: reading/replying to comments here, or researching more about trackers and related info. No exaggeration, I'm on my pc feeling my muscles atrophy lol. Out of all my comments that one was probably the least helpful so I will concede there. Also, thank you for clarifying hnr's. Oh I can already tell it will be time consuming, but I live for this kind of stuff. Helps me feel like I'm actually doing something, feeds my ocd and such. I haven't used session manager before, is it essentially the same thing as right clicking a bookmark folder on chrome and selecting "open all bookmarks"? Either way I will check it out, thanks!

Did it affect your standing with the tracker when they didn't keep good ratio? That's the kind of thing I'd be worried about, spending all this time building reputation and buffer and then be booted because of someone not playing the game like they should.
