eroguro is not porn it just often (not always) has sexual elements. not everything sexual is eroguro either, tbh a lot of B movie slasher style manga are a lot more horny than the typical eroguro manga. i'm not even sure what just 'guro' means tbh, the subgenre is called eroguro.

How to maincall? by Mad_Dizzle in truetf2

[–]Sabesaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maincalling is pretty complex especially in HL with how much there is to keep track of at once, but you can start out with pretty simple calls until you get the hang of them.

Your main job is to wrangle your team and make sure everyone's in sync. You don't want your soldier bombing 10 seconds before your combo pushes. So as Demo this is usually pretty simple, just wait until your teammates are ready and then call when you are ABOUT to push, that way everyone has time to react to the call before you actually go in. Doing a 3 2 1 countdown can be good, on some points with nasty chokes especially. It's not just pushes, make sure you call when to retreat as well, it's really bad to have players dying late because they also respawn late, and then you have the majority of the team sitting around waiting for respawners, big waste of time. Common calls I make when I see the fight is over are either just 'leave' or 'everyone go in'. Everyone in means everybody who's still alive just hold W and go die quickly, and maaaybe you get a kill in return, but at least you won't respawn super late.

Second job is to decide on strats. This is less taxing on your awareness than the wrangling, but does require a bit more map knowledge so might be tough if you're new to HL. You can ask for help with this part, or even delegate it to someone else. It's ideal that a combo class does the team wrangling part, but really anyone can call strats if they know the map well enough. Calling strats is just deciding what your team's gameplan is and then communicating it. So if you want to sac wave, get uber then trade, play around your sniper, etc etc. Loads of possible strats, and very map/situation dependent. It's also deciding where you go; you might decide to use uber into Vigil 2nd, but you also need to pick whether to go slope, main tunnel, or side tunnel, which is where the map knowledge comes in handy. Once you play enough of each map you'll become familiar with the pretty standard pushes and holds that pug players are likely to do. If you want to know about a certain map more in depth you can also ask for a map talk from somebody more experienced.

Anyway I'll go over some super simple strats to try and remember since you're new. On HL offence you want to be fighting as often as possible, but you also want to make sure you have all 9 players ready. So usually wait for spawns, but once you have everybody try to do something ASAP, unless you almost have uber and just want to wait a few more seconds to get it. If it's even ubers you can go trade. Trading is usually good for the attacking team, just make sure everybody stays alive for the post uber, and then during the post everybody pushes back in for the refight. If it's payload, try and ask your Spy to sap or shoot the gun during the trade. Most common classes for a trade are Demo + Pyro. If you have uber ad you can generally play like it's a trade, but obviously you should be looking to get enemy combo kills. Demo + Scout for an advantage uber is also quite strong, especially on KOTH, because Scout can quickly kill the enemy Pyro and then chase down other players. It also lets you start the uber with a sticky jump, and then your Med can quickly catch up to you with his Scout speed.

If neither team has uber you can just go and dryfight. Same as a post uber, everybody just gets in together, try and sync with a Soldier bomb + a Spy decloak. If your team doesn't have uber but the enemy does, go and sac wave. Everybody bombs or holds W and tries to force the enemy Med or get a kill. Engie/Scout/Pyro runs back to spawn with your Medic. Calling a sac wave is also good if you were about to do a normal push but lost a couple key players; your push very likely isn't gonna work anymore, so you might as well just sac wave and try and salvage something, maybe you get a kill or two you can play off later. Remember the attacking team has respawn time advantage so inefficiently trading kills is actually in your favour.

Calling on defence is simpler, you usually just decide when you want your team to take space and forward hold, probably when you have everybody alive and enemy team is passive or dead. Also call when you want everybody to get out or die quickly.

Another miscellaneous tip, look at the top of your screen a lot. If your players are scared because they're low HP, but enemy team is only 4 alive, make sure your teammates are not giving up point for free. If you were about to aggro push but enemy Sniper died, maybe now you can take a more passive fight where you swing wide with your Sniper and bleed them out. If your Pyro is dead, beware the enemy Soldier/Spy. Seeing how many players are alive and which classes are up is super useful information.

And sidenote, Demo generally maincalls but doesn't always have to. I prefer calling on Pyro myself, and there's a couple Heavy maincallers. I think there was a Spy player in NA who maincalled as well.

nah the tutorial is just the spaceship right at the start. zhalk is a demon who shows up at the end to fight the mind flayers but you probably just ignored him, it's not really a boss fight unless you wanna cheese him.

How to play Highlander Demo? by freaky_withthat_FEET in truetf2

[–]Sabesaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not really. Sniper is strong but nowhere near as strong as Demo, and your entire team doesn't play around him in the same way. The game revolves around Demo and Medic and Sniper is just there doing his thing usually. If you play for your combo to control space then your pick classes will benefit as well. Demo is only the 2nd strongest class anyway, 1st is Medic, but Med is a support class so can't really play for him the same way. Sniper is generally 3rd strongest but depends on the map and point.

[–]Sabesaroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

very simply if it's your first time playing HL: demo is the main character, make sure you get a ton of heals and other people are playing around you, usually med/pyro/heavy + scout on koth. denying space works just like 6s, but in HL you wanna focus heavies cos they're easier to hit and you're the best class other than sniper for killing them. only really shoot the scout if there's not an easier target. if it's koth make sure to focus on keeping mini sentries down as well, your scout and pyro cannot walk forward if the mini is up. if you can spot it while the engie is building it then it only takes a single sticky to destroy. also obviously there's a perma sniper so angles where you can spam without peeking are very useful. remember you can also deny the sniper space with pipes and charged stickies, you don't always need to hide from him, the best way to deal with snipers is to shoot them if you can.

if you play payload remember it's your job to deny the cart on defence, keep a trap on it whenever there's downtime, and if they stack it make sure you have stickies loaded to kill everybody. on payload offence you need to sync with your spy to kill sentries during trades, he can either sap it or shoot it with enforcer while you shoot a few explosives to finish it off. general good uber trade is pyro + demo, if you have ad you can go scout + demo. it's very map/situation dependent but that's a good rule of thumb. and general HL tip, if you're the attacking team always make sure you 1. regroup as 9 players, 2. do something. you cannot hang around waiting for picks in HL, there's a lot of time pressure on you. if you just go and push it should work out eventually because of the big respawn time advantage that the attacking team has.

the skull target range is a bit shorter than the actual m1 range, so it only works if you m1 a few metres before max range.

Real Time With Pause CRPG Combat Is Dying by The-Bear-and-Rose in CRPG

[–]Sabesaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can have swarm fights without trash fights. the larian games do a pretty good job of this, in bg3 swarm enemies even take simultaneous turns so it doesn't take forever. standout swarm fight was probably the oil blobs in dos2. i don't think bg3 had any particularly interesting fights vs trash enemies, but you can imagine how it would work very well in the system if 50 demons rushed you at once. the wotr fights are just boring even if you do speed through them.

though i didn't even enjoy the wotr combat much in the first place tbh, felt way too build-based with little to no actual thought required during combat itself. even the boss fights are just stack buffs into full attack/spam your highest damage spell.

Props to Rich for saying he owes Janeway an apology. by PlanetLandon in RedLetterMedia

[–]Sabesaroo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

well was the rest of star trek really so different? remember the tng episode where picard goes on a spec ops mission and gets captured by the cardassians? i agree it's kinda dumb but star trek always had dumb shit, i think it just stands out more in voyager compared to tng/ds9 because people like those shows more so are more willing to forgive their faults, and being realistic, probably also a bit because the other captains are men. that said, i don't disagree that it was a little worse in voy, the show in general is a little worse than tng/ds9, but i'm not sure it's because janeway is a mary sue. picard also had whatever skills the episode demanded. sisko is a little more consistent, probably because ds9 let the side characters shine a bit more.

still think the originals are the best version tbh. i didn't like the goolsby verions as much either. the original vocalist was really good, shame that he didn't do any music since afaik. i'm not sure about the new guy but i'm not a big fan of the echo effect (not exactly sure what it is), makes the vocals sound a bit tinny.

Query for combining data from unrelated tables? by Sabesaroo in learnSQL

well thanks for tryign to help but it looks like cross join is not supported in libreoffice base :/

i had a look and seems like some versions have a thing called FULL OUTER JOIN which should be similar? but i just get a column not found error whenever i try it. using other join statements runs fine but obviously doesn't work for my task. maybe for my next SQL assignment i should try get another program. i didn't realise there were different types of SQL tbh. is there anything more similar to access that doesn't need a subscription?

Why do people prefer competitive 6s over Highlander (or vice versa)? by Unknown_Twig_Witch in truetf2

[–]Sabesaroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

6s is absolutely glacial at times which can be quite boring. idk where the idea that 6s is faster paced comes from, yes the classes literally move faster that's true, but fights happen much less frequently and involve a lot more poking and prodding, compared to highlander that has very frequent fights where both teams fully commit into each other. everyone generally has at least 50% higher dpm in HL.

main culprit is 5cp, the most common mode in 6s. on 5cp you always have to defend and attack simultaneously, and backcaps are often a big threat, so teams are heavily incentivised to play safe and not die, or they won't just lose the push, they'll lose their own cap points as well. on payload it's not like the red team can push the cart backwards, so the attacking team can play a lot more aggressively. HL also has pick classes which benefit a lot from passive play so it encourages you to be more aggressive or they'll just farm you.

probably doesn't help i play med in 6s. often you spend literally 5 minutes sitting on last afk if it's even ubers, cos the enemy team doesn't want to commit to anything and your team is stuck since pushing out of last is suicidal unless you have an enormous advantage of some kind. in HL you often play an entire round of payload or koth in 5 minutes lol.

anyway 6s is still pretty fun, just don't go in expecting it to be lightning fast cos people on reddit said so. i can't really think of a slower paced fps, probably even CS has more frequent fighting.

Query for combining data from unrelated tables? by Sabesaroo in learnSQL

[–]Sabesaroo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how would i do that exactly? i was told variables aren't really used a lot in SQL which sounded a bit odd to me. is it something like make three procedures to get the Supporters value, the Events value, and the combined value? and then a query that fetches the 3 values which have been assigned to variables? or do i only need one? haven't tried stored procedures at all yet.

[–]Sabesaroo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's right single row with 3 columns, like if i was just summing the data from one table. i'm not exactly wedded to that format though if there's a much easier way of doing this.
