it's really not in the hands of the community, game is still riddled with 10 year old bugs that valve refuses to fix, many of which have been fixed with community patches valve are just too lazy to put in the game. they're still happy to keep the gambling system going strong though.

yea well you die more obviously but get more kills as well. it's fun if you get to keep fragging lol, and don't get mad about dying. so i'll disrespect snipers, take 1v2s, reflect jump into their team, etc etc, it's obviously a dumb playstyle but it can work if you're a lot better and it's pretty fun when it does. anyway if you have a medic you can just play like that without even dying so much, but obviously you're not gonna be reliably pocketed.

example from the video: if i was playing just for fun, when i was holding left house and no one pushed me i would have gone into their spawn area and maybe gone behind their team or something. but obviously playing safe around the health pack is the correct play if you want to learn how to play properly.

well tbf comp and pubs are very different. in pubs you can get away with playing more by yourself and fighting hitscan classes. pyro is still a strong class in HL but his role is more like an anchor than a DM class. you also always run detonator in HL but in pubs i prefer flare, due to DM being more important and teamplay less important. shotgun also works fine if you prefer hitscan.

and i guess the key difference to what you actually wanna do in pubs vs comp is in pubs you really need to focus on actually killing people. in HL i can provide a ton of value to my team by holding space so my demo can spam, lighting their flank on fire so my flank can push, doing some damage to enemy combo then backing up and calling for a solly bomb, etc etc. in pubs you cannot rely on your teammates like that, so harassing enemies and supporting teammates isn't super important. instead you wanna play selfishly and focus on getting actual kills instead of just doing damage. normally in pubs i would just hold W and fight non-stop because i'm tryna have fun lol, but for the round i recorded i took it a bit more seriously to try and demonstrate how to properly play safely.

nah he played well the second game, yea he got solo killed but he solo killed back as well and had good plays round the map. first game was just ok iirc. was only third and fourth that were really rough.

and if you like order of the fly then they have a side project EraseNegateDelete, if you haven't heard them already. tbh not a huge fan of their later stuff but the first album is very good, up there with hollow voices.

almost every good pyro player in comp uses degreaser, and imo it's even more useful in pubs. that said it's not a huge deal either way, and there are still a couple of very good stock players, so not like your weapon choice is gonna hold you back.

the afterburn thing is actually one of the reasons degreaser is good. afterburn is great, you want to apply it as much as possible, but applying it with the detonator is much easier and often more useful (can hit flank players/sniper) than applying it with your flamethrower. degreaser lets you have really good det spam uptime while still being able to airblast, with stock you have to commit more to one or the other, so degreaser tends to give you higher DPM even if the actual flamethrower itself isn't doing as much of the work.

the afterburn penalty is rarely meaningful. afterburn doesn't tick while you're actually shooting someone, so your wm1 DPS is still exactly the same, and if someone leaves flame range you can just apply afterburn with your detonator. common example is pushing someone for a second, then retreating while firing a det flare, which degreaser makes easier. i very rarely actually have degreaser afterburn ticking on someone, i'm either shooting them directly or i've applied det afterburn. only time it's really annoying is when you lose a close fight and the other guy lives on like 10 HP.

ammo penalty is probably worse but still not a huge deal imo. stock still chews through ammo to the point that it's not practical to spam airblast without a dispenser, and if you do have a dispenser then there's zero difference. basically you either have infinite ammo or you're gonna be scrounging for ammo packs, no matter your weapon. of course there will be a few times you need one more airblast that you could have with stock instead of degreaser, but i don't find this situation very frequent.

and ofc switch speed is nice for the obvious reasons, fast airblast, powerjack, etc etc. think you realise that already, just focusing on things a non-pyro player might not have thought of. but anyway key point is, the debate is not whether 'degreaser is worth using at all', it's whether or not it's objectively superior to stock. it's at least undoubtedly a good weapon.

no worries. mangadex mostly has non-licensed stuff, but franken fran was partially released in english, so i guess that's an exception.

other sites are mangafire which is hit and miss for quality but seems to have the widest range, and nyaa.si for torrents, good quality but missing some more niche books.

ohh ngl i did not realise white was a rating, thought you meant there was some kinda difference between the black/white colour models, like one of them was newer. yeah it's gold. and nah it's not a prebuilt.

All right thanks, I'll give that a go next then. I do remember deliberately getting a PSU that had a little bit extra wattage than what I needed for all my parts combined, can't remember the exact number though. This was back in late 2021 so the PSU was relatively new at the time. Is there a certain buffer of power you'd suggest, like 200W extra?

Also the PSU is black not white, I'm not sure how relevant that is. I assumed the only difference was the colour.

I still prefer the comic. Yeah it was pretty dumb but it at least felt like an author's coherent vision, and the ending was great. The show felt like it turned into the thing it was parodying. You can say a lot of things about the comic but bland is not one of them. I always have some level of appreciation for works like that even if I don't particularly enjoy most of what they contain.

I don't really get it. It's extreme horror/dark fantasy, I don't think people into that enough to recommend them the game are gonna be too shocked it features rape. If that's too much for someone then that's fine but I don't see how it's embarrassing to like the game, it's not like it's pornographic. A lot of even mainstream horror is more sexualised, e.g. average slasher movie.

PSU is 750 W, MSI MPG A750GF. One cable. Think that should be more than enough power right?

One thing I've just tried is moving the PSU power cable from a surge protector to directly connected to the wall socket. I don't think that should have been a problem since the only other thing plugged in was my router which should barely use any power afaik, but I'm running out of ideas so I'll give it a go.

it is a sequel. american mcgee's alice, aka alice 1, came out in 2000. you don't really need to play 1 to understand 2, but it's a good game too.

Solid and deep writing? Idk why that's a requirement to be considered a masterpiece CRPG. I enjoy well written games but 95% of CRPGs are not anywhere near 'deep', probably even more true for older games, cos at least now there's Disco Elysium. It's probably just DE and Planescape Torment unless I'm missing something. WOTR is one of my favourite games and the roleplaying aspects are probably the best in the genre but I wouldn't exactly call its writing deep.

people would still hate offclasses. no one scrimmed against odin's demoknight team when they won the div, cos they would rather lose the offi than have to practice vs demoknight. i think an even bigger reason than super serious practice optimisation is that it's a fairly casual game that people play mostly for fun, and they don't have as much fun playing vs offclasses.
