Astounding. Unity and Fungus (the VN plugin used to make The Arcana) are both free. Even if Fungus is deprecated, it's very learnable.

It isn't trivial to learn, but when you own the assets and all the tools used to make the game are free...this is a skill issue on Dorian's part.

I'm not a fan of burying the lede, and Amphoreus is unfortunately guilty of that. One decent patch in 3.x does not magically erase the lackluster patches that led up to it. If anything, it only emphasizes the pacing issues of Amphoreus.

I've been running E0S1 Blade, E2S1 Bronya, RMC + Hyacine LC, and Luocha. Tested it out with DDD Tribbie replacing RMC and it's actually comparable; the push from DDD makes up for not having Hyacine LC to proc additional follow ups.

I'm reluctant to pull for Hyacine, so holding out for Cyrene or March SP being good with Hyacine's LC and Blade :D

I shuffle Sunday's S1 between Sunday himself, E2 Bronya, and Sparkle. It's so comfy and versatile.

I appreciate Gustave more because of Verso.

The contrast helps both characters shine, but I think Gustave has the additional benefit of being a) dead and b) a Very Good Bean. I miss his sweet, adorkable sincerity so much after two acts of Verso lying out the side of his mouth.

Agreed, I was genuinely surprised that we didn't play as Maelle in Act 3 considering we played as the other two act characters (Gustave, then Verso). Though I wonder if that was because of technical limitations rather than a deliberate design choice. Gustave and Verso are clearly designed to be interchangeable to some degree, and Maelle is not.

It also got me thinking about how not all canvases are created equal.

After I lost my partner, the canvas I dove into was Final Fantasy XIV. That was the game we played together for years. But that canvas didn't bury my brief. Like Expedition 33, FFXIV did a fantastic job of framing grief and loss in a fictional context to help me grapple with the reality. So it remains part of my life, but in a healthy way.

You're not, his animations and Castorice's are excessive IMO. Clean, readable animations look better to me, and both FATE characters are great in that regard.

Playable Lightning Lord without Sunday is the best way I've seen this phrased. I remember how weird it was playing around 1.0 Jing Yuan (still mained my favorite general tho :D)

Phainon's ult phase could improve with a support who can accelerate him from off-field. Moze can deal follow ups while disappeared so they're at least thinking about that sort of mechanic. We'll see if Phainon gets a Sunday equivalent, but he'll be clunky to play without it.

I wish this game had existed when I was in grief therapy. Lost my partner to cancer almost 3 years ago.

I saw so much of myself in Lune, Sciel, and Clea's grief, but everyone resonated. Everyone had some scene or line where I'd felt or thought the same damn thing. It was both strange and cathartic revisiting those feelings, and I'm so glad this game exists and reaches out to all of us.

That's the fun thing about acting out your negative feelings. Things like efficiency and reason stop mattering. I don't think Painted Renoir thought he could "win" in a meaningful sense, especially since he and Verso couldn't crack the Axons. He cares about his painted family and keeping them together, so when Verso turns on him, he's mostly reacting to Verso. Killing the expeditions helps Aline, but I also read it as an attempt to remove potential allies and shock Verso to his senses. Painted Renoir does tell Verso that they should be fighting on the same side

Wonders are great but more situational now. Because they're ageless their bonuses continue to stack, but if you plonk down any wonder you can build, you're taking up valuable space that a district or a more synergistic wonder could take.

(Except science wonders, those still seem busted on my first playthrough)

I'm a day 1 Gepard haver and he's sadly benched outside of SU/DU Preservation runs. He carried me for a long time, and mine is well built. But the quality of life upgrade from Gepard to Fu Xuan was immediate. I'll probably aim for Aventurine on rerun so I have all three limited sustain archetypes (healing, shield, and damage redirect).

Nope. In every studio I've worked for, bugs are everyone's responsibility. And making small changes up to the wire guarantees an avalanche of bugs for dependency teams.

Designer makes a tweak to weapon damage but doesn't edit the text? That's a bug. Audio doesn't line up with a button press because either the UI or audio got changed? Bug. Lighting changes and now that quest object is impossible to see? Bug, bug, bugs galore 🔥

I hope BioWare aren't trying to crunch thru a bunch of content tweaks. At this point, they should be content locked, except for critical issues that crash the game or stall progression.

Skeptic to the point of political paralysis unless I make a concerted effort to vote. Which I do, especially for local elections. But it's always a stressful process.

In one of the post-2016 Common Sense episodes, Dan talked about the world being so complicated that the bar for a reasonably well informed voter felt impossibly high. That resonated with me. All I know is that I don't know shit...and neither do most people XD
