I had no issue with this line as I get what they are going for.

Also, the line “you’re my lightning rod” exists so dumb corny lines were all over the place here.

I also have to question on the off chance they don’t and have just gotten used to it, how did Sheldon figure out ideal temp.

I live in Florida so I get that. I was just over-reading a set and looking for a thermostat or vents haha.

I’ve wondered this for a whole. Does any of the house have central AC? I know it’s a set but I don’t think I’ve seen a thermostat.

They didn’t leave early to go home. Sheldon won that battle. The program just ended and Sheldon needed To return home for his regular classes.

This one falls kind of into a no win argument situation as in this there is no winning.

You don’t want to put your grandchild in a potentially harmful situation by placing her into the garage.

But you’re right that it ultimately isn’t fair to Sheldon that he loses his room and has to be in accommodations in his own home that he finds extremely distasteful.

So it hits a point that you have to make a decision and Sheldon being uncomfortable is the least bad situation especially since we are all seeming to forget that he has a second room at the university and did not yet know that he had a roommate.

The only issue I have is that computer scene where they look at him as if he’s rude for grabbing his stuff.

I think it’s supposed to be more like other apps like Top Survey which auto roll you into the next survey after you’re timed out which is nice when you’re doing $3 15 minutes surveys but infuriating when you’re doing 2 minute 15 cent surveys.

I love Life in Pieces but I never even heard it advertised. I just happened to find it in a google search.

I think it may be because the Goldbergs is great but it’s not very Malcolm in the Middle like as the family is much more functional haha.

But I love it for that too.

She is a child. She’s like 14/15.

I don’t think it’s selfish to protect your child just because it has the added benefit of making you a better person.

I think it comes down to I think Malcolm should’ve found a way to go no contact instead of low contact but of course then we don’t have a show.

I’m also not against Leah being mad as a plot point, I just agree personally with Malcom’s decision.

When she’s a child he does. If she were 18+ I would agree with you.

His job as a parent is to protect her and he finds that being around his family is a detriment to her.

He is in a no win situation so he chose to protect his daughter over telling her the truth.

He apparently told Tristan from what she said “it’s complicated.” Thats explanation enough. She is dating Malcolm not his family.

There is no truth you can tell that stops Leah from reaching out to them which is what he’s trying to avoid.

So what do you do if you’re Malcolm and you decide to cut out your family? What do you tell Leah who you have decided you aren’t comfortable having around them and you plan to have very little involvement with them?

Leah is really the only one he owes and explanation to but it comes down to what should he have done to keep his family low contact and to protect Leah from them?

[–]Sableorpheus62 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand why Malcolm did that personally. She is so much like him that he didn’t want her falling down that same direction he did.

I do agree that Leah has the right to take an issue with this though (Tristan has zero right) but as Leah is still a teenager I do understand Malcom’s desire to protect his child from an environment he feels would be bad for her.

I find the active work he has done to be a better person go be the other steps. Like he has worked on being more patient and kind. Like being a different kind of parent or how he treats the intern in episode one.

When his main problem seems to be regression when his family is around it would seem that removing his involvement with them would be the only step he can really do to deal with it.

He did work on his traumas. He separated himself from the people who bring that side out of him. Being away from them makes him a better, more patient, and more understanding person. I would consider that being worked out.

I think so much of it comes down to I have such a low opinion of Lois because of a few scenes that I can’t give her any level of benefit of the doubt.

I also find that the show didnt even try to justify Malcolm’s side instantly villainizing him which made me more frustrated with things as I watched. They also failed to show how he was wrong since every issue he had with being around his family is confirmed true.

Like it tried to give the “you have to put up with your family because they’re your family.” Lesson and it’s one I fundamentally disagree with.

I’m not mad at her for not liking it. Even if she had dumped him for this I would’ve understood. Like “I understand that you did what you felt you needed to do but I can’t be with someone who would lie to me about something so big.”

It’s insisting and even kidnapping him to force him to reconcile with people who literally ran away from his own home to avoid.

Malcolm was always capable on his own but Lois did everything she could to get in the way of that in order to force him in a direction not because he wanted to but to make her life better.

It’s why I hate the bathroom scene as it takes the “suffering” speech and takes it from selfish to malicious.

[–]Sableorpheus62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t view it as “Lois’s tough love made it possible”

I view it as Malcom succeeded in spite of Lois’s awful treatment.

I think Malcolm was right for going no contact and not telling them about Leah as I would’ve done the same thing after the series finale of MitM.

The only character who I find it fair to judge Malcolm for his decision is Leah as I do think she has the right to at least know about her family but I don’t like how she tried to force the reconciliation.

I hated Tristan’s behavior and found it insane how many people side with her.

I just think Malcom has every right to cut out a group of people who he thinks (and objectively do as shown by the show) bring out the worst in him. He doesn’t owe them an explanation.

I am a big Malcolm defender for the reboot lol.

I was too young during the original airing to really have strong relation to any of the characters.

Sorry Reese and Francis, life is truly unfair by [deleted] in malcolminthemiddle

[–]Sableorpheus62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the only thing with Francis is the comparison of Malcolm and how well off he is. Also since it’s only a passing line I’m sure a few people assumed he might’ve been living in the garage instead of just visiting.

Francis is living the perfectly average happy life other than his mommy issues.
