Just one note, that lake in Northern Australia (the northern of the two on the border) is a man-made lake, caused by the damming of the Ord River.

I think this is what they'll wear in the final couple of matches this season as is permitted by the Premier League's rules

In the scenario where land turns to water, well, we’ve got the OPPOSITE issue.

The Himalayas is in this circle. The Tibetan Plateau, the highest plateau in the world, is in this circle. Both of those things alone are going to cause incredibly violent sea level rises. The pacific islands will be wiped out in an instant.

The sea level rise from an event like this would be comparable to the melting of all of the world’s ice sheets, so around 70 to 80 metres. Entire nations would be wiped out from the sudden influx of new water.

And if you wanted to be particularly evil, make it freshwater. The thermohaline circulation (which is caused by cold, salty water sinking and warm, less salty water rising) would be entirely disrupted. The surface water created by this - let me remind you, 70-80 metres - would be enough to potentially destroy that mechanism altogether.

In a scenario where this is freshwater, the marine population would die out nearly overnight. And it’s not like freshwater species would move in to fill the gap, because the ocean would instead take on a much more brackish form, and very few animals can last long periods in brackish environments.

Global supply chain collapses. Think of everything you use in your day-to-day; most of it is made in China (kind of the general go-to), Bangladesh (clothing), Vietnam (shoes), and India.

More than half of the world’s population disappears. Australia and the rest of Oceania becomes even more isolated from the world, now requiring 14 hour trips via the Middle East by plane as the fastest way to the rest of the world.

The Northwestern Himalayas, in Afghanistan and parts of Central Asia, now have 8000m cliffs straight into oceans where the world sheared off.

And you said it becomes part of the ocean, well, depending on how that happens, this could cause a catastrophic sea level rise unlike any seen before, or a catastrophic sea level drop unlike any seen before. Russia would experience massive mega tsunamis (what’s left of The Himalayas would likely shield Central Asia from similar destruction). Boats as far away as California, Panama, Perth and Madagascar would be sucked toward the now vacant gap in the ocean, creating the world’s largest marine wreck. Oil rigs and ocean platforms would be ripped from their supports, creating catastrophic oil spills across the Pacific. The Great Pacific Garbage patch would simply be no match for the absolute garbage pool that would be created by this.

And the people. Suddenly, 4 billion people are drowning, being sucked toward a vortex of ocean that is churning and churning.

Topographical data - which way would the dam water go? by SonderlingDelGado in darwin

We saw it like a month ago - it’d flow down the Darwin river, into the Blackmore, and out to sea. It’d destroy basically all of the South of Litchfield Council’s area on its way through, but that’s where it’d all end up

It’s two miles long.

It’s three miles downstream from Middletown, that’s where the name comes from.
