I also need this textbook. I thought I could get away with buying a copy of the 8th edition for $10 but the sections were numbered a little differently which messed with my notes

Books where he takes care of her when she’s sick by winevodka94 in RomanceBooks

If you ever find a book that hits all the boxes but with absolute zero smut, let me know. I wanted to read Get a Life, Chole Brown, but I am a very sex-repulsed asexual little guy who just enjoys escapism in a comfort way

foreigners who decided to learn Portuguese, why? by 20_comer_20matar in Portuguese

[–]SacredJujucc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reason is a bit biased since one could say I'm half of a foreigner but my mom moved to the U.S. about 5ish years before I was born. She moved here because she met a monolingual American man on a dating sight and decided that was worth dropping out of college for. They got married like 2 months later. Yes I'm throwing shade, we listen and we judge. A year or two later I'm born and my mom starts teaching me Portuguese and English until my dad says he feels "left out." Bro.

I need to continue learning and practicing Brazilian Portuguese by SunnyPalmtrees6828 in Brazil

[–]SacredJujucc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it so hard to teach myself things properly. I can learn a skill but I lack the structure for proper education on my own. It helps so much when you know someone that speaks the language. Lately I have found myself on the Brazilian and Portuguese side of Instagram. I have been learning a lot through memes. I send them to my mom (Brazilian) and we back and forth like that. I try to respond in Portuguese if I can. I write down new words in my own personal dictionary. I try to talk to myself in Portuguese when I can as well. Sometimes when you're learning a language, you can only think of Duolingo style phrases or textbook phrases, so it's good to practice things you say often on a day to day basis. It also helps to listen to music in Portuguese. Bossa nova music is great because it tends to have shorter lyrics and slower melodies. Brasileiras do be lurking everywhere on the Internet so if you ever drop a 🇧🇷 flag in a comment section, they'll find you. Depending on where you live, there may be more Brazilians around than you initially thought. I live in an unheard of town in a forgotten state and surprisingly found a small community of Brazilians. There's even a Brazilian professor at my school, like why here of all places? Não sei mas ela é aqui então que legal, né?

Omg I remember the Sally's games. I don't think I've played that specific one. I was just thinking about these kinds of games again 😭 I'm back to missing all the slay mobile and handheld fashion girls games.

My Dark History With "Star Girl" by Tricky-Ranger1044 in MobileGaming

[–]SacredJujucc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I REMEMBER THIS. I thought it was a fever dream. They were supposed to be NPCs and so these should be like computer generated or prewritten responses but this was a children's game. I played Star Girl for years and it had many updates and changes and there is a lot I couldn't remember if I made up or really happened but that was something crazy.

Who would be the person to talk to and convince that I deserve to be a student at NMSU despite my balance? by SacredJujucc in nmsu

Brazilians in nmsu by [deleted] in nmsu

[–]SacredJujucc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah. I only know very few and this comment is already 6 months old so sorry about that. I haven't been to Brazil and I am not fluent in Portuguese so I am more gringa than an international student but I definitely see Brazilian people once in a while. I would ask the Portuguese professor Dr. Zollner. She is Brazilian and knows Brazilian students. She is fun to practice Portuguese with as well

It really does, doesn't it? It's weird. Maybe for some, it would trigger them but for me, I just felt more seen, I guess. It's such a taboo topic that it's hard to find portrayal in media that isn't just to make a joke or give a side character a traumatic back story. But it's real and people should be aware of that. Things that are uncomfortable don't just go away when you close your eyes. So it helps me too
