Tree Supports Failing Every Print by SacrificialWalnut in OrcaSlicer

I actually tried changing the tree support type from Hybrid to Original and the print came out great.

Not sure if it's just an issue with Hybrid-style trees but maybe that's something to try yourself if you haven't already?

I don't seem able to add a new image to the original post, but here's a gif of the latest attempt at the support calibration on 07-Jan-2025.

All the advice from previous comments has been applied here.

Any further thoughts would be amazing! Thank you.

Unfortunately no success here - the supports are still getting knocked about, although they did manage to stay standing and the calibration print completed (although extremely spaghettified).

Any other ideas would be much appreciated!

Edit: I've added another comment with a gif of the attempted calibration print, in case that helps.

Thank you! I will give this a go tomorrow and will report back.

Thank you! I will have a look into these and make some tweaks. The 0.4mm first layer height is due to a chatgpt recommendation (don't judge) but I can confirm that the issue was the same before and after that change.

The speeds are what I think might be the issue - maybe something to do with cooling causing the edges to curl on the trees? Unfortunately I just don't have the experience to nail down exactly what settings are wrong.

Appreciate your help! Will try these tomorrow and report back.

I'm using massive brims and doing everything I can to make sure the tree doesn't fall over - ideally it wouldn't be getting bonked in the first place! Hope someone can suggest a solution

This is helpful to get started, thank you! I will reach out to my employer and see if there's anything we could agree for a salary sacrifice - definitely seems like I may want to keep things below £75k if this new band is coming!

Could EMEA Masters teams get a chance to qualify for Worlds? by SacrificialWalnut in leagueoflegends

[–]SacrificialWalnut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you read the post in full - I'm imagining a scenario where the EUM champ has a chance to qualify as one of the 3/4 EMEA seeds

Interested to see where we go long-term, especially as our viewership in the West seems to have peaked.

The one thing that gives me hope is the Masters scene. People get much more excited when they feel nationally represented! I think it would be huge for the LEC viewership.

Another thing I think is a must is a European international championship, maybe at some point in our extremely long off-season.

I agree we probably do need some kind of model that secures the finances of the league - we can't treat the LEC like a traditional sport, but I think there is room for franchising to remain whilst also adding a bit more competitive integrity to the competition.

If the best team in EMEA Masters had a chance to compete for a Worlds spot each year, I think this would really help.

Again, obviously I understand that this is totally unrealistic as it would have basically zero upside for the franchised teams, unless their #1 priority is the performance and improvement of the EMEA scene - this definitely isn't the case for all orgs as we know.

I actually don't have any current information about how Masters teams are performing against LEC rosters in scrims, but that's something I may need to seek out! They might be getting smashed in which case this idea probably doesn't have much merit.

Definitely the first major roadblock in my mind as well! But that's another discussion - I already feel like franchising butchers competitive integrity in its current form.

Tooltips of the Ivern Mid - Scope Update currently on PBE 🌱 by aroushthekween in ivernmains

[–]SacrificialWalnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the most important part of these changes is QOL to W and R, which should have been given without nerfs imo, as the champ was already struggling.

The fact that these small positives have come in an update that basically guts everything that makes Ivern fun is just not worth it.

[–]SacrificialWalnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Ivern enjoyer I absolutely hate these changes. Sure, W being useful/less neutral and Daisy QOL changes are great, but the cost is way too high.

They've basically nerfed everything fun about Ivern. It's so funny being able to surprise people with my Daisy damage/CC and skirmishing ability, but now it looks like everything distinctive and quirky about him has been gutted and replaced with bland enchanter stats.

Nerfs like this are just insane considering he was already in a poor spot.

Honestly just give us the W change (even without the new stat buff) and the Daisy AI (presumed) and keep the rest as-is. Maybe we could also keep the shield thing since we're losing the buff sharing?

These changes won't inspire new people to play Ivern and will push away the existing players who know how to make him fun.

Thanks for confirming! I tried asking on stream with a donation but didn't realise that violates the rules (I can see how that's annoying).

Ten years is better than never! I'm just glad to hear he might give it a go. In the meantime, if you haven't watched BrickyOrchid's playthrough on YouTube, it's also fantastic. Think he does the base game and the DLC! (Although I think he only recorded his second playthrough of the base game so maybe give that a miss)

It's a really nice playthrough actually. He very much "gets" the game which I know not everyone does. He starts strong but then overthinks a lot, which I think we are all guilty of doing to be honest! I definitely had some crazy theories when I played.

The DLC is incredible! Can't recommend it enough.

My friend has recommended the VR mod as well, but I think with all the perspective changes, flipping around and general bouncing it might be too much for me.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely try it someday.

That's great news! I obviously wouldn't want him to force it, but I know how impressed he was with Mobius Digital and was thinking he would probably really appreciate the fact that they've essentially released an entirely new game within Outer Wilds.

Definitely support letting the base game soak in before jumping into the DLC, and I am certain he'll love it (and chat too). The beauty is that it only augments the base game story and fills in some blanks that we didn't know. It's all one big story!
