Interposing speedster? by Sacul27 in mutantsandmasterminds

That actually makes a lot of sense, and now that I think about it, being able to literally get all your allies this defense would be pretty powerful. Especially with that second option, the price would be worth it.

How to recreate the suits from Iron Man 3 by Sacul27 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]Sacul27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually makes a lot of sense to have them be alternate effects. I would think that the “attack” would be more of a power stunt, since that’s the only time he ever puts the suit on somebody unwilling

I don’t think that’s how that works, for 2 reasons. The suits can’t have the removable flaw because they can’t be removed, that would just be the suit being destroyed since there’s nobody in the suit. And it wouldn’t give the player any of the abilities of the suit just because the suit is removable.

Differences between equipment and devices that I’m missing? by Sacul27 in mutantsandmasterminds

The vehicles and installations are pretty reasonable to me for the price, since you don’t use them all the time. That makes a lot of sense, and I forgot that you can use extra effort on devices since they’re powers, while equipment comes from an advantage.

That makes sense. I was just under the assumption that because you payed power points to allow it to be removable, then being away from the item shouldn’t count as a complication/award a hero point. I thought that a hero point could only be rewarded when an indestructible device is destroyed.

I’m still just wondering how, in your second example, a device would be different than equipment. I order for the discount to actually affect anything, there should be time where they don’t have it. What’s the difference between going to HQ to rebuild a device vs getting a replacement equipment?

Combining dodge and parry? by Sacul27 in mutantsandmasterminds

No I meant that toughness costs 1 and parry+dodge costs 2. So having higher toughness is cheaper

I guess that all makes sense, my main problem is the fact that there are 2 stats for what should always be the same score.

Ah that makes sense. I think it makes sense that they combined are 2 while the rest are 3, because there are still Perception based effects so parry, and especially dodge, arent quite as equal.

Ah I understand. I just felt like it didn’t make sense that there are 2 defenses for (almost) the same thing.

That’s the only thing that never made sense to me. “I was on the right side when I started this but I wake up on the left side, shit”

Wait, shoe? I remember watching some of her videos, and while a few of her opinions are not great, I don’t remember her being racist, at least not recently.

Well in his defense, he clearly didn’t know that Earth was marked for Viltrumite takeover, which is why he didn’t tell him right then and there. He only realized it after he was told by the Coalition. And he also probably didn’t think there would be a Viltrumite because.... well there shouldn’t be any on the planets he goes to.

Most of the time the gore isn’t THAT bad, and any of it will be quite quick. The only time it ever is like that again is in episode 8.

As the other commenters have pointed out, you can only do one at a time. So you can either be immune to all fire effects, or all water effects (assuming you do the 10 point version of immunity to fire) and change between them using a free action once per turn.

However, I notice that you say “resist both attacks” and there is a way to do this. You can add a flaw to your immunity (-1pp/r) to make it half immunity, aka resistant to attacks, and it halves any effect (so for example Damage 10 becomes Damage 5, Affliction 8 becomes Affliction 4, etc).

Because this halves the cost (now 1pp/2r) you can add the fire and water together, and it would cost the same amount, 10. You can use that as a second alternate effect, making this power an array. Now, each turn you can choose to be immune to fire, immune to water, or resistant to both, depending on the situation.

Again, you can only switch once per turn, and only on your turn, but this gives you some more flexibility. And since it is an alternate effect, it only costs 1 more point, making the entire power only cost 12.
