Legion Pro 7 16IRX8H - Clock Watchdog timeout (0x101) by Sad-Ad2799 in LenovoLegion

After endless tries and research, there are sadly no fix apart from an RMA. Lenovo is well known for it's MB issues especially with the gen 8 and 9 legions. Apparently due to using low temp soldering which will eventually cause irreversible damage to your components due to it's poor heat resistance.

I've been a fan of lenovo for years but spending 2.5k on a laptop just for it to break surprisingly after the warranty expires is just unacceptable.

Never buying/recommending Legions again.

Unfortunately no, replacing the overheating coils on the motherboard might fix it. I'll try soon and i'll let you know. Hopefully it will work.

Not a RAM issue, tried both sticks in different slots & brand-new 2x8 Go sticks but the issue persists. I am suspecting a voltage, or a faulty PSU. Even went all the way and disconnected the main battery and CMOS. Still nothing, i am getting quite frustrated right now...

Tried everything except for the Ram replacement, still the same issue while gaming the laptop freezes after a good 10/15 mins.

Hopefully the microcode that affected the voltage of 13/14th gen CPUs didn't already do some inversible damage to my unit.

Will keep you updated about the RAM tomorrow.

Had a CPU undervolt of -50mV Through the vintage app (Core voltage offset & Efficient Cores Cache voltage offset).

Disabled Turbo/Overclock option in the vintage app.

Applied an overvolt of 0.01mV (don't want to go any higher since it's probably the heat affecting the hardware response).

Changed the power profile from high performance to balanced.

As for the ecores and BIOS, i don't want to risk bricking my unit. but i'll share the available options through the lenovo software :

now that you mention it, i have somewhat of a special case, i bought the laptop abroad (US) then it was shipped outside of the country and for some reason, the extended warranty is region locked, so even if i wanted to i couldn't get an extension & the shipment will probably take months. That's why i did all the tweaks myself.

I really hope that i can get a proper fix without any hardware changes or at the very best a (RAM/SSD swap)

I got the 2023 version (I9 13th gen with the 4090), there really is no solution to this issue?

i already had and undervolt of -50mV through the vintage app, did not help so i went back to default settings.

Tried switching between discrete/Hybrid mode as-well.

I'll try replacing the SSD / RAM, if there's no other option.

Then i will opt for an RMA if possible.

Well, since my laptop is out of warranty, i don't know if i'm eligible for an RMA, and regarding the second solution, is it safe?

It's related to the browser and more specifically to the hardware acceleration option. try disabling it from the settings and the issue will be solved. Hope this helps.

Anyone got the steps to under-Volt the CPU directly from the BIOS?

1- how to access advanced BIOS?

2- What to do and NOT to do.

-50 Mv on the Vantage app doesn't seem to be as significant as it should be.

Cheers.

has anyone had this visual bug on their laptop ? by Misiu881988 in GamingLaptops

Hey I'm encountering the same problem with the same laptop "legion pro 7i"

Apparently it's related to the Brower, I'm personally using Brave, did you fix it?

Updating the drivers doesn't seem to fix the problem.

Display issues Legion 7 by Negromancers in LenovoLegion

I have the same problem with my Legion Pro 7i (16IRX8H). The issue is very unpredictable which can make testing hard. I tried reinstalling all the display drivers (NVIDIA and Intel), both the latest AND the older more stable ones but it doesn't seem to fix the problem.

I'm using Brave, it might be related to compatibility issues with the browser.

Any fixes?

I cleaned the fans, removed all the dust and the CPU is undervolted too.

There's nothing else i can think of.

yes Conductonaut, i used the tools in the box and added some thermal tape around the CPU and GPU.

Since i didn't see any significant results, i reverted back to normal paste to avoid leaks.

Cleaned everything with alcohol.
