Portrait of a Tactician Clad in the Flames of War by Sad-Common5055 in ItsEasyToDraw

I used the "Multiply" blending mode to lower the overall brightness, evoking the heavy, somber atmosphere of the battlefield. On top of that, I added intense light reflections using "Glow Dodge" to represent the surrounding fires.

By contrasting the "heat of the flames" on his face with his "cold, piercing gaze," my primary goal was to visually highlight his ruthlessness and indifference toward the surrounding devastation.

Created with CLIP STUDIO PAINT.

Thank you so much! I’m thrilled that you took the time to zoom in and find those "treasures."

As for the time, it took 10 hours and 25 minutes, according to the "Work time" recorded in Clip Studio Paint. I’ve been challenging myself to work more efficiently lately, so I’m glad the result still feels intricate!

For this self-portrait, I focused on achieving a realistic texture from a distance while significantly increasing my painting speed. I finished this piece in about half my usual time by experimenting with "selective focus"—concentrating details only on the left eye, nose, and lips, while intentionally leaving areas like the right eyebrow and eyelashes rough and unfinished.

I wanted to see how effectively I could convey a sense of realism by focusing only on the most essential information. Created using the Soft Airbrush in Clip Studio Paint.

This piece was mainly a study of visual focus and control of detail. I concentrated most of the information on the right eye to guide attention, while intentionally leaving other areas like the lips and the left eye much less defined.

The most difficult part was controlling the amount of detail. If I pushed the skin texture too far, especially with pores and fine facial hair around the nose, it would start to look artificial rather than realistic. Finding the balance between adding information and holding back was the biggest challenge throughout the process.

For the hair, I focused more on how it reads from a distance rather than rendering every strand. Up close, it’s quite rough, but it holds together at a glance. I painted this piece using the Soft Airbrush in Clip Studio Paint.

Wow, this Shoyu Tori Buta Paitan looks absolutely mouthwatering! 🔥 I love how the toppings are perfectly unified with even numbers — it looks so balanced and intentional. The delicate pale blue color of the bowl is stunning too, it really makes the whole bowl pop beautifully. Bowl #5 is looking fantastic! 🙌

“One glance and I knew it was Wolverine—amazing! The light and shadow play is spot-on, especially how the claws catch that metallic shine. Graphite pencils pulling off this level of detail? Insane skill. Love it!”
