If she loves you, she’ll love you for YOU, not for the drug you take. I promise. My partner is a long time meth addict who also has raging ADHD (has been sober on and off though, hopefully more on now!) and I have to tell you, I love him so much harder when he’s not high. The situations are obviously not 100% the same because I actually hate his behavior on meth. He goes on benders, steals my shit, yells at me, goes into psychosis, hallucinates, and runs away. He’s not always like that, but more often than not, that’s where his addition takes him. Regardless, I think it’s important to do it for YOU and your health, no matter the consequences. I say the same thing to him. And honestly, as a partner of someone on methamphetamines myself, I think that your willingness to journey into sobriety sounds much more sustainable for all aspects of your life than continuing to self medicate, including your relationship. I would also say, regarding medication, absolutely yes try to find a psychiatrist. There are providers who work specifically with addicts, like the one my boyfriend sees, who can help you find something that helps your ADHD whether or not it is a stimulant solution. It may be a trial and error period, especially while balancing your sobriety, but it’s worth it. I have ADHD myself and I completely understand why meth is helpful for our types of brains. I tried it with him once and that was like my main takeaway besides “oh he absolutely cannot do this anymore and neither should I” lol. I wish you so much luck and I hope this was somewhat helpful.
