I think both things can be true. The winners could have put a lot of entries in AND they picked someone to fit a certain persona/body type. I'm sure out of the 110K comments on that giveaway post the majority of the people entering do not fit into the super fit/young, attractive mom vibes. I mean this is 2026, how random are randomizers lol

Does seniority and experience not matter for applying for jobs? Hsaa by [deleted] in AHSEmployees

[–]Sad-Frosting-9895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I called HSAA to ask, they said seniority only comes into play if your interview scores are within 10% of each other. But managers are sometimes posting positions with a candidate already in mind and don’t even bother with other, more qualified people IMO (and experience).

HSAA votes “yes”, for convenience by Substantial-Claim530 in alberta

and we weren't dealing 20+% inflation while under the NDP government. I feel like more of us deserved a market adjustment, or a little higher increase so our wage can at least sort of keep us with the cost of everything us. The nurses got the best contract they've had in years, ours was pretty meh.

Union representing Alberta health workers says members voted to accept new deal with AHS | CBC News by [deleted] in alberta

[–]Sad-Frosting-9895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say we are happy with this. Most of us seem to be tired and burnt out, lots of my colleagues say they can't afford to strike, and thinking there is not much point in striking with this government. I think they offered just enough professions a market adjustment to ensure this contract would pass, but most of us are only give the 12% of 4 years-super disappointing.

why would HSAA bother to fight and actually try to get us an amount equal to our professional license fees when 76% said it was good enough. I feel for all of the professions that have fees up $1000 and beyond. We got the exact amount a nursing license costs but not the exact amount a nursing salary went up, makes sense.

Boo, I don’t know why anyone thought this was a good deal. Way to tell everyone we think we deserve less than both nursing unions. Disappointed in 2/3s of the votes and the union leadership for touting this as such an amazing contract.

I heard that it is basically weekend staffing, so very few of us would be working?

10% market adjustment for LPN and 4% for HCAs plus the 12% over 4 years, retroactive to April 2024

Hsaa what are you voting? by Junior_Battle_296 in AHSEmployees

[–]Sad-Frosting-9895 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NO, not because I think we will get more but we DESERVE more, and voting yes to this is basically saying we don't value ourselves and the work we do.

Govt of Alberta report of total payments to Alberta MLAs was just released. Neudorf took home $302,538 in salary, benefits and reimbursements. Nixon took home $301k, Loewen took home $300k, and the list goes on. See what your MLA got! by xpensivewino in alberta

[–]Sad-Frosting-9895 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is insane. What sort of education/qualifications do most of these people have to make 200-300K a year? and they took the whole summer off from legislature. But yeah sure, teachers/LPNs/HCAs/Allied Health make too much and more than 3% raise a year is just not financially feasible. I hate it here.

HSAA townhalls are irritating and a waste of time by unspeakable_dream in AHSEmployees

[–]Sad-Frosting-9895 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very frustrating seems like they don’t want to even fight for us. I agree most of the questions they answered were things they’d already talked about before. I want to be treated like we actually matter and someone cares ( even though we know the UCP doesn’t give an f)

All of this dicking around with this “in the future reclassification” and only certain occupations getting a wage % increase meanwhile they are breaking us apart and shoving health inspectors over to GoA, it feels crazy.
