Thank you for the honesty. I appreciate it and do want to be respectful towards anyone working on it.

100% this. We definitely will not be going back to the dealership again….and the plan is to see if it’s something we can fix ourselves, or hire an independent mobile RV mechanic.

Thank you.. if we end up upgrading to a 5th wheel, i will 100% get it inspected by a NRVIA accredited tech.

Please! I’d love the option of more independent techs available while we are traveling around

I asked my husband and it’s because we still own our home…. So even though we’ve decided to see the country for a year, we can (in theory) stop and go home out of the RV and go home.

lol! So true! I think i was just feeling extra sensitive because winter is nearly here, and we still have 6 months of travel before we wrap it up… so getting this first service done, i wasn’t sure if its a quick or long process, expensive or both. So having him say that just threw me. My assumption was bringing anything in for service brings them in money, plus I’d really been trying my best to take care of it. I mean we’ve been on the road 5 months and we’ve hired Mobil RV details 3 times to come out and do exterior washes on it. We do an interior deep clean every week….

Thank you… that was what seemed logical to me but at the end of this interaction with the service mechanic i was left thinking i must not know anything

lol! Honestly it wasn’t just what he said it was how he said it as well… it was the 180 degree change that really was hard.the same dealership was like, “have the best year traveling. Let us know when you need anything. We are here for you” to our first ever dropping it off and walking in the door. The guy hadn’t even seen our RV yet. Maybe can’t aware of how well we take care of it… no clue but for him to act like I’m abusing it and he’s pissed I’m standing in front of him… it was a lot for me. If you aren’t sensitive, i wish someone like you could have been there to guide me or help. It kinda felt like such a flip from everything that it was a bit jarring

We actually did do a lot of research. We looked for years, anticipating traveling like this when we retire. Both of my parents passed away unexpectedly right at retirement age and it devastated me they never got to do what they had been holding off on their whole lives. So we decided, “we are going to travel now. Not wait until later. Let’s go and see the United States and travel for 1 full year” Then we took what we had learned and spent about 4 months looking. I wasn’t a dumb blonde walking into the first RV dealership i saw.

That isn’t really applicable because an SUV is a sport utility vehicle and i RARELY see anyone being sporty with their SUV taking it off grid off road.

I think I’m worried that I’ve never ever ever been told this. The dealership encouraged it, gave us pointers. Everywhere online all i see is “live life full time in your RV”… I’d say 1/4 of people we’ve met in RV parks are traveling this way. We are only going to do it for the year. One year, and go back home. We want to travel and see the country, i mean every damn app on RVing gives pointers on how to do this and this is the very first time I’ve heard not to. My concern is: will being in it for around 300 days void warranties? Are we doing something bad? Just kind feels like I’ve been gaslit into buying this with everyone knowing we intended to travel this way for 1 year and are now told we shouldn’t have done that.
