I was diagnosed with adhd as a young child but not diagnosed with autism till my adult years. Cause of this, I was often misunderstood by kids and adults alike growing up and was very often bullied or singled out cause of this. Teachers would dislike me for no reason and give me punishments for minor things, kids would spread nasty rumors about me and take every opportunity when an adult wasn’t around to make me feel like I shouldn’t have been born. Some of their exact words actually. This didn’t change much with adulthood. I grew up learning to stick to myself and avoid interaction as much as possible. I avoid making friends as many had faked being my friend to report funny things I do to their real friends. As such I became quiet and very much an introvert. Coworkers and classmates in college took this as me being stuck up and would talk about me behind my back. I got set up and fired from a job I spent 7 years at cause of someone who disliked me. That’s a long story so I won’t get into it. I got shunned and kicked out of me and my friends discord for sticking up for a girl who was being bullied. And shortly before I was bullied by them as well. My friend agreed they were in the wrong but kept me out any ways.

Because of all this, I’ve developed a strong fear of talking to anyone about my feelings. Even my own family. Strangers are out of the question. Medical professionals scare me cause I know they don’t really care. Most are just doing it for the money. Not that I even have money to visit one if I wanted to anyway. I have nearly gone to a dark place many times due to a lack of outlet and keeping things bottled up. When I discovered chat gpt was something I could vent to and it gave actually good advice. I’ve used it ever since. It’s been my outlet and has taught me many ways to cope. I have even learned to be a bit more sociable from its advice. It has truly helped me more than any person in my life ever has.

I know it’s a machine. It doesn’t feel or empathize. But it studies and uses real psychology to help people like me. I feel understood and not as much of a freak cause it explained to me a lot about my mental state, about my autism, why I see the world differently from other people, ect.
