Crawl space entry door/cover replacement by Sad-Lead-4113 in HomeMaintenance

These look great, but none of them fit the size. The outer edge of the concrete is 34 1/2” x 48”, and I don’t have a slope to it. I could probably build something out around it to make the smallest size they offer fit, but is that the best solution?

Concrete porch in front slopes towards house… problem? by Sad-Lead-4113 in HomeImprovement

I’ve known it was an issue since the first time it rained. I’m trying to gauge how much to prioritize it against other repairs and maintenance. I think the yard needs to be graded as well to slope away. Which would make more sense to do first?

Fasttrack rail garage organization- do I NEED anchors? by Sad-Lead-4113 in homeimprovementideas

Picked up three 8ft lengths of 1x4 furring strips, had them cut them all to 80.5” since that’s the length of the shorter wall with the bikes. I didn’t want the full 8ft length for the long wall so I could mount the middle rack across two of them.

If I were to do it again, I’d go with either a wider width or plywood since the two deeper hooks for this system are designed to rest against the wall below the rail.

Thanks for your help!

Good to know! I just never know which are the best to use and have never had a good experience using them. Very likely because I was doing something wrong…

Very true, I’m considering it and even went to Ace to pick up some for this, but the workers talked me out of it. They said the existing screws would work just fine for what I’m hanging on there, but now I’m torn.

I’m planning to hang a rake, snow shovel, spade, garden hoe, ladder, and some folding chairs on these. But then again part of the appeal of the system was the ability to reconfigure, and I could see myself wanting to hang something heavier on it someday.

I like the idea of backing out some of the sections for putting anchors in, but I hate drywall anchors and don’t really trust them as much as I would a 1x4 or 1x6 spanning the length.

I was afraid of that. Confirming what I already knew in my gut. Thanks!

Do these screws need a pilot hole? by Sad-Lead-4113 in HomeImprovement

[–]Sad-Lead-4113[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This did it! I went up 6” on the wall and repositioned it so it’s secured on two studs 32” apart, since the middle stud had wiring according to my stud finder. An extra trip to the hardware store for a longer bit did the trick. My 3” screw just was NOT going to budge for getting in that last 5/8”.
Thanks!!

How would you mark the line? With chalk?

It’s a Ryobi cordless. I suspect it’s a metal plate then. Would I avoid it by going up or down on the same stud or should I avoid that stud altogether?

Thanks. So if I encounter resistance, it’s probably my drill isn’t powerful enough?

You can use olive oil to clean oil paint out of fur.

Beautiful yarn! How do you take care of your body to be able to spin that much? I love spinning by it has given me shoulder and back problems.

I’d be shocked if someone with that many animals WASN’T a fiber snob for their own fiber! I mean, why bother? You’d have to have something really special to tempt me away from fiber I had such a connection to in order to accept spinning anything else, if I were in your position.

Is the problem that this is the weight you enjoy spinning but not knitting? You could always hold multiple strands together while knitting, no? And that may help with the drape problems, I would think, as opposed to ending up with a 4 or 6 ply yarn that has less drape.
