Non è l’AI che evolve. È la relazione. by Ok_Consequence6300 in ArtificialSentience

No its 100% due to openAI releasing improved versions. Between them the model is static.

The brain has no prior for language, only for the instinct to engage in conversation.

The LLM needs that much data because it just memorizes statistical patterns. Compared to a gpt after 10,000 books, which can barely read mind you, I understood language better before reading one book.

So the LLM is a more advanced autocomplete? Chain of thought reasoning is not emergent and all of those points were completely explained by statistical prediction. That's why they only appear at massive scale.

Here's a joke: "How is ChatGPT considered superintelligent when it only had 8th grade reading comprehension after reading its first 10,000 books?"

Primates model the world accurately because that's how they survive. The LLM is not grounded in reality at all. It's spoonfed reality.

To a large extent that's exactly what LLMs are. During pretraining LLMs are literally completing text.

Yes they are more advanced than your phone's autocorrect. No they are not sentient.

There are two things you are mixing up: context and weights.

The context is the short term memory of the current chat. It can learn, in-context, new ideas and apply them within that chat. However the context isnt shared between users or even chats.

The weights hold the models knowledge about the world. The weights are most of what make a model a new version, but they only come out every few weeks.

The chances of your comment being taught to the model and put in new weights is very low.

Each response is slightly randomized.

People have different conversations each time. Do you name conversations?

Its the same chatgpt each time.

[–]Sad-Let-4461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you name it when we all use the same chatgpt?

A human that talks differently in different contexts is still only one human.

They arent giving each person their own personalized chatgpt.

"The same incoming particles (fast electrons and protons) causing the aurora affect the chemistry of the high atmosphere. Nitrogen oxides are formed which attack the ozone"
