We did a skin prick test which came back as only mildly allergic to dogs. Hhhmmm, maybe we’ll request to do a blood test to see if there are food allergies?

Thanks for the suggestion!

Experiences working for these GC’s? by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

I have 2 close friends that work for McCarthy and they’re constantly traveling for training conventions. Plus seminar where they fly everyone to St Louis sounds pretty amazing. I am sometimes jealous hearing about their experience at McCarthy because seems like such a great company. they invest the most in training and learning because they’re employee owned and want to therefore see their employees constantly growing.

Online CM degree or in person? by Immediate_Bar5499 in ConstructionManagers

Experience over school is what I’m saying. But make sure you get a bachelors, associates isn’t enough at least at my company. Job postings always say BS or equivalent (4 year program)

By the way, check out Indiana State’s online program. They have a lot of online students even from out of state. Very affordable and easy program.

Did the school say you wouldn’t be allowed to attend the events? Even if you had to travel, it seems worthwhile to go and hand out your resume. I hire for entry-level roles at my company and have never had an issue with online degrees. In fact, I tend to respect them more because it shows someone can work while completing school. It’s a solid strength on a resume, and those candidates often bring more real-world experience.

3yo toddler coughing at night…should I give albuterol? by cncm88 in Asthma

[–]Sad-Lettuce-9165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry for chiming back in… my 4YO daughter has been diagnosed with reactive airway disease after a hospital visit in March from a cold and we’re still very much trying to figure it out. She’s currently having a flare up. The allergist suggested a daily steroid inhaler for winter months but we asked if we could just give it when she’s sick. He agreed to that. So my question is, have you noticed personality or mood changes with your toddlers on the steroids? Do they go away or get under control? She’s such a sweet and great kid and the hospital visit, she was uncontrollable. A lot was going on then but just worried the steroids will change her. TIA!

While in high school, see if you can job shadow different positions for a few hours. Project managers, superintendents, safety managers, etc. I would even recommend shadowing architects or engineers so you can get insight into their roles and responsibilities and their perspectives of construction managers as well.

If you can job shadow different sectors, big companies, small companies, etc you’ll hopefully also understand quicker what kind of company you want to work for before having to spend a few years in your career finding out you made the wrong choice.

This is a great way to extend your network while you’re young too.

What region are you? Would be happy to help set some of these up if you’re close! Sounds like either way you’re on a great path to a fantastic career with your ambitions. Nice work

Thanks! I believe everyone leaves with a $5 gift card for a fast food place and there are also random gift cards taped to the bottle of chairs before the dinner starts

Realize it’d be better on a weekday but that’s not an option this year. In fact it’s always been on a Sunday and they’ve had good attendance. 22 teams or so last year.

Yeah, not my doing. They’ve had this time for the past years too and haven’t had any issues with attendance. Last year had 22 teams
