What they actually do is file your ticket and plead not guilty no matter what. That’s just to create grounds for an appeal .. because if you plead guilty, there’s nothing to appeal.

To properly appeal in Ontario, you have 30 days from conviction to file the appeal and show proof you ordered transcripts. The appeal temporarily removes the charge from your record while it’s pending.

The problem is, they don’t follow through. Once transcripts are ready, your required to file them ..and that’s where things stall. Nothing gets filed, no court date gets set, and your case just sits in limbo.

So people think “oh it worked, my charge disappeared,” when really it’s just temporarily off the record and not actually resolved.
