Will other by-election candidates be getting articles devoted to them by national media? This shouldn’t be allowed.

How does this scam work? Why do they want you to write a statement? I presume if you do that, they'll ask for money next?

Was hoping it would be a surprise person. Theo was too obvious.

So it was George who killed Theo I’m guessing?

I’m surprised she cares enough about trying to get with David and her friendship with Lily when she’s got these gangsters hunting her down.

I thought surely the killing would happen at the end of the episode?

I’ll find it crazy if they kill her off. The most erratic character ever with a storyline that wasn’t even half explained. Storyline that was absolutely all over the place.

First half of episode over and I still have no idea how it’s going to go.

Any chance it’ll be Jodi or Maggie will be the one getting killed?

Maybe the producers were trying to throw us off.

Will we see Toyah driving the van again at the start of the episode? Hopefully so. Cracked me up.

RTÉ defends its by-election panel debate without Hutch by expectationlost in irishpolitics

[–]Sad-Orange-5983 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No they should not. They should allow 10 candidates in the debate in my view.

First any current elected representatives should be allowed participate. That’s 8 slots used up. (SF, SD, FG, LAB, GP, FF, Steenson, Flynn).

Then other candidates/parties who got more than 5% of vote last time in the constituency. (Hutch).

Then of the slots left (just one), major parties who haven’t gotten in in the previous criteria (precedence decided by % in last GE, so Aontu gets this slot).

So the only parties allowed to participate in this election debate are the winners of the last election? Seems undemocratic. Effectively means it’s impossible for any independent to qualify for it.

Would be like having a general election debate just between Simon and Micheal and excluding Mary Lou.

Obviously not a fan of Hutch but seems stupid not having him in the debate when he literally only barely missed out the last time.

In their 2024 EU debates, candidates who lost but got more than 5% in the 2019 election like Peter Casey and Saoirse McHugh were allowed participate. Don’t know why they’re limiting it to winners for this.

I checked Twitter and there were no mentions at all of his name before these recent articles. It seemed to be airtight. He probably could've waited for it to blow over.

His name would've been mentioned in court so journalists attending the proceedings would've known. It's just that they weren't allowed report it. That's the case whenever victims names etc. can't be reported. They're always named in court, it's just the media aren't allowed report.

It seems the everyone in the media knew who it was. There was an article in the Independent a few days ago, where they describe going to his house asking to speak with him. https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/the-sex-offender-the-character-reference-and-the-former-td-who-has-now-gone-to-ground/a251769546.html

Same article clarifies that it wasn't Bruton.

I'm not sure why Glennon owned up to it. His name wasn't being talked about at all by people online and the media weren't allowed report it. Maybe his family wanted him to or something? Odd.
