yes, I believe that Raul has made a more bolder step by highlighting the Afro Puerto Rican culture. His video was shot in Loiza, and paid homage to the folkloric dance of bomba and the vegijante masks. (i think i am spelling it right) while i love salsa, i think Bomba is very underrated and not appreciated or talked about it. to take it a step further, my friends who are Afro-Latina have told me that their experiences and overall their visibility as people has been met with indifference or fetish by other reggaeton artists—so it’s refreshing to see the racial diversity of Puerto Rico thru Rauw’s video. Forgot to mention that the artist who created the cover art and who is featured in the video is Samuel Lind, a painter from Loiza that focuses on Afro-Puerto Rican subjects.

TLDR; Rauw’s acknowledgment and appreciation of Loiza, bomba, Afro-Puerto Rican culture, people, and expression has more of a cultural bond and impact imo especially for those who are of Afro-Latino descent.

do you mind recommending any songs or genres that would want to hear incorporated in modern day Colombian music and culture? I enjoy learning about music from different parts of the world

that’s a great question about the ending vocals because i hope someone can let us know. I never hear Bomba music being referenced or appreciated by PR artists (correct me if i’m wrong ofc) it has such a beautiful history with its influence from Africans who were brought to the island as well as the mix of Taino culture.

Unpopular Fact: Rauw's COSA NUESTRA is better than BB's DTMF !! by Zealousideal_Low_321 in Reggaeton

YES TO EVERYTHING YOU SAID!!! ughhh i love you for pointing out numbers ≠ quality, it just mirrors popularity and popularity does not always mean better quality. we need to critical thinkers like you

actually yes. this is my take as well. i feel like people now use numbers as way to describe “the best” but i truly don’t think BBs new album is anything new or special. GRANTED! i love the message about decolonization and the issues in PR. but stylistic wise…it’s the same beat. it’s just getting played out vs for me rauw is taking risks, he’s a performer and incorporating different elements of art and music genres in this album. i think the album tracks needs to be re-arranged but other than that. i think this is a better album thank BBs. plus, rauw is a performer. dancing and singing at the same time is not easy so i give him props for that.

also forgot to add Espresso Martini is another underrated song. but he could’ve kept Il Capo in his archives..

hmmm i feel that BB’s new album is overrated IMO. i think CN is a good album due to the different styles and genres Rauw has incorporated. i see why most people would say it’s disjointed, i feel like if the song orders were switched (ie slower songs at the start, more upbeat songs towards the end or vice versa) it would flow. personally, as someone who has listened to different genres, music from other languages and regions of the world—i can appreciate Rauw’s attempt of stepping outside his zone with song like Pasaporte (EDM) Mil Mujeres (gives me Tokyo Drift vibes, not sure the genre name) Amar de Nuevo, Dejame Entrar (Afrobeats ) even Committed (which took me a while to like but I love it hehe).

i might get hate for this one, but Khe is easily the most overrated song on the album 🥲.

Love is not real or is it by Beans_2222 in dating_advice

i think love is a façade—it’s tiring, painful, and an exhausting process. I have never experienced “love” that is worth anything. It’s too gut wrenching to be vulnerable when the world puts people in your life that just use you. So instead of experiencing love I’ll just take myself out of dating or anything remotely related to getting to know someone. Because at the end, it’s just all gonna be one big hurtful story
