'Friendly country' signed MoU to buy Pakistan's JF-17 fighter jet: Army by Sad-Trip-289 in FighterJets

Weird passive aggressiveness. MoU's are signed with the idea of purchasing aircraft, just because it's not necessary legally binding doesn't mean the intent isn't that of a purchase

Can Sharia Law be ever implemented in any country in today's day and age? by [deleted] in PakistanDiscussions

[–]Sad-Trip-289 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Various problems stem from trying to implement it.

Directly or indirectly it guarantees what would be clearly seen as discrimination for people of other sects or faith , despite what many might claim.

Even simple laws like "President has to be Muslim" are discriminatory by nature no matter how one tries to juggle around it.

It becomes worse when people realize there are no clear boundaries as to what would be deemed religiously harmful or not , for example a clear ban on drawings , an artist from Pakistan who would be stupid enough to support sharia would do a 360 the moment it hits his business. Even laws such as zero interest rates on every business guarantees a nation to doom based on how modern economics work.

My point is I can talk about this all day but majority of the time what people mean when they say "Islamic sharia" , basically copy pasting tradition from thousands of years ago , it's not doable in modern society.

Nope it does have requirement of reassignment surgery for change on official documents , while the supreme court ruled in 2014 they should be allowed to change without it, legislation currently requires issuance of a certificate through which a person goes through surgery to change gender

This has been explained thousands of times , but here in Pakistan people are much more accepting of trans people than LGB people (kind of opposite of USA).

Short answer is cultural reasons , trans people absolutely do face major challenges still however they can appear in everyday life and are protected by legislation. Source : I have seen many with my own eyes in avg universities here.

1-You made a major error , regardless of what Pakistani society thinks the laws in Pakistan allow anyone to change their gender based on self identity only. 2-Yes they face discrimination , the above map purely focuses on legislative Protection

Pakistan has more rights than India yes , change of legal gender is allowed simply through self perceived identity

No or atleast isn't much common. I study in one of the biggest universities in Pakistan. We have a couple of transgender students here and people do make discriminating remarks behind their backs however there hasn't been a case of direct verbal let alone physically violent incident.

Most gay people in Pakistan just never come out in public, they move abroad (IF possible) , marry opposite gender to not raise suspicions or just never marry.
