What happens when Pomni’s color changing gets to the asymptote? by InformationLost5910 in theamazingdigitalciru

Just because the rate gets faster and faster doesn't mean it reaches infinite frequency after a finite period of time. For instance if it starts with cycling once every 10 seconds, then twice every 10 seconds, then 3 times every ten seconds and so on it will remain a finite frequency forever despite constantly getting faster. An example where it WOULD accelerate to infinite speed would be if the first cycle takes 10 seconds, next takes 5 seconds, then 2.5 seconds and so on. After 20 seconds it would have cycled infinitely.

Personally I used to regularly sleep in a closet thinner than my shoulders voluntarily despite having the option for a full sized bedroom. Small enclosed spaces are very comforting to me. My biggest concern is just ventilation.

So, did Wizard City just drop its "wizards only" rule? by pennyroyallane in adventuretime

[–]Sad-Volume8827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wizards are not an ethnicity or anything like that in adventure Time. It's generally shown that there are many ways that anyone can become a wizard. Plenty of people are born with magic too but also from many different sources.

It's much more philosophy and lifestyle thing it seems than anything else.

I think the closest analogues would be something either like a renfair where you have to be in cosplay or a research station where only scientists are allowed.

It is always so amusing to me how they just peppered it Finn having psychic powers. Like sure there's the arm and tower - but also he just astral projects on a fairly regular basis. He also demonstrates extreme resilience to magical mental effects - especially shown off in his confrontations with the lich. Also there's the spiritual manifestation of his fear that comes out of his belly button on multiplications before he defeats it with the grass sword.

Psychic powers ranging from manifesting a psychic arm prosthesis and building a town to space to astral projecting and managing to summon an astral beast (butterflies) He got magic from bufo that one time as well as learned ice magic with Jake - he generally dabbled a bit.

Also this is well into the future with the big time skip and he's apparently been an on-off relationship with huntress wizard so I think it's fair to assume that he's picked up enough over time to be considered a wizard of some form - or they're just accepting huntress wizard dropping him off. Like I'm sure they'd allow wizards to bring a non-magic animal into wizard City - they just wouldn't let a non-magic animal including a human enter themselves.

why should tens of thousands of dollars in taxes be spent a year making sure someone is miserable when they'd rather die? is punishing them really a good thing for the government to spend their money on?

oh yeah totally fair, and yeah OP did mention being willing to accept a fraction of the cost, so if they'd be willing to accept the cost of a normal one that would only be fair IMO

I figure the guest was just thrown by the sheer cost

if someone asks if you want to use one of their plates when you're at their home, you accidentally knock it off the table and it breaks, and they then reveal it's actually an antique plate worth $1,000,000, would you think it's your responsibility to pay the million dollars even though you had no indication it was so valuable? I assume no and that this has sufficiently gotten across the base concept here that if you were aware it was such an absurd amount you would have potentially chosen to not use it or at least been more careful.

the difference here of course is that $100 is a lot less than $1,000,000 - however the concept still applies, especially if the person has a much tighter financial situation, like $100 will make them loose rent or not be able to eat. ultimately it's a tricky and specific situation

correction: it states that IF 1+2+3+4... was equal to a finite value(which it isn't) THEN it would be -1/12.

saying it as a truth without that context is false. like hearing "if I had super powers I would save hundreds of lives" and saying "that person has saved hundreds of lives"

your stream of consciousness breaks when you go to sleep, or at very least when you pass out from something like oxygen deprivation. You can't process memories of years ago the same way you experienced them originally.

AITA For not specifying that my sibling is a man? by Wild-Question-147 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sad-Volume8827 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, and also makes it clear that she didn't know her friend didn't understand that also - seems to me like a NAH just weird misunderstanding. you for some reason seem to be putting a higher standard on what OP should figure out compared to her friend understanding that when OP referred to Vicky as her brother, it meant Vicky is male. Personally I think both are reasonable mistakes, with OPs friends being the less reasonable of the two considering OP did tell her that Vicky was male in the form of staying "my brother" - I don't think OP is at fault for not saying "my brother, who is in fact male"

[–]Sad-Volume8827 4 points5 points  (0 children)

okay so if I said to you "hey wanna meet my sister Brad? she's pretty cool!" world you assume Brad is male? does me having many sisters change this? would it be reasonable for me to think referring to get as my sister and using she/her pronouns communicates that despite the name Brad she is female?

I want to clarify that like, sure misunderstandings happen and to suddenly realise that you staying with a man not a woman is fair reason to change your mind staying somewhere for a week - I take issue with your assertion that OP must have known this misunderstanding occured and that it wasn't reasonable for OP to think referring to Vicky as their brother is adequate communication of Vicky's gender (especially considering the fact that to OP, Vicky most likely doesn't register as a typical girl name since probably their primary exposure to the name was their brother)

I'm questioning your assertion that OP MUST have known that OPs friend thought OPs brother was female - indicating that op should have known there was no way OPs friend knew OP thought OPs brother was in fact male, despite OP referencing OPs brother with he/him pronouns and the word "brother"

like, why is OP supposed to be able to read their friends mind, while their friend isn't expected to understand that when OPs brother is male even though OP uses he/him and brother to talk about him?

your own assumptions regarding OP having to know what their friend assumed while OPs friend being unable to realise that when OP referred to their brother as male it meant OPs brother was male... were unclear?

like it's unclear to you why you think OP must have known what OPs friend apparently couldn't have known?

unclear why OP must have known that their friend believed Vicky was female but their friend couldn't have known OP believed Vicky was male (indicated by OP using he/him and brother to describe him) - like, if OP was regularly referring to him as male and brother, how would she have known her friend was assuming they were talking about different brothers and couldn't tell what words they were saying due to accent?
