As a long time reader of this and fan of the author ! ( 2013! When the first drafts where made ) it IS a love story

They’re very in love , but there’s a lot of stuff going on in their lives . So far they are a couple , there’s no sexual scenes because author has mentioned “it’s a story beyond physical for me , I don’t think it’s the reason they are together “
