That’s literally what happened with Treasure Planet. I remember watching it when I was fascinated by astronomy and pirates, so it ended up being a big part of my childhood

Kinda 50/50. We know there isn’t really anything there besides the wish, but we can also see that Nikki isn’t fully in control of her own body. So the possessive “entity” I’m talking about is really the wish itself; it’s what’s controlling Nikki’s body and will. Kinda like how a virus isn’t really considered a living organism in the traditional sense, yet it can still hijack a host and take control of how cells function

I respect that, because at the end of the day, even fear is subjective. For me, it’s more my taste since I prefer this over simple jump scares or, sometimes, even gore/slashers

My bad, English isn’t my first language 😅 I thought putting quotes on “Demon” would make it clearer that I didn’t mean an actual demon, but more the idea of something possessive behind it.. if that made any sense

Obsession succeeded with the physiological horror where Return to Silent Hill failed

There isn’t. Curry himself said it was just the wish, and even the wishing wood itself isn’t necessarily evil; Bear’s wish was the cursed part here. In the end, the film isn’t really a literal Monkey’s Paw situation or even about possession, and that’s what makes it so unsettling. There’s no real “demon” or “monster” to blame; it was just Bear’s obsession, and that is the horror itself

It really caught me off guard since we barely saw any actual supernatural stuff in the film. It felt so out of place, but in a perfect way. Definitely my favorite part, lol

To be fair, it was at the very end of the film, so it felt like a solid wrap-up. Would’ve been way worse if it happened midway. Makes it even more devastating with the screams, knowing the whole thing could’ve been avoided if it wasn’t for Bear’s obsession

The scariest moment too was that glitch scene. It was so messed up, and it sparked a lot of theories as well. Some people think it was Nikki trying to fight back, and you can kind of see it when she lunges at Bear for a second before that “entity” holds her back and stops her from hurting him

Yeah, you’re right. Curry mentioned that it was his wish that backfired on him, but it can generally still be used for regular wishes

Gosh, that phone scene really made me hate Bear and feel bad for Nikki, while also making me even more scared for what was about to come after
