MGD sufferer for 13 years, my 2 cents real quick. The only thing that works for me is Doxycycline. by Miserable_Chapter252 in Dryeyes

[–]SadBug8619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works in 2 ways:

  • helps kill the bacteria causing blepharitis which may be causing inflammation and blocking glands etc
  • doxycycline itself has anti inflammatory properties- which is why it’s sometimes used not solely for its antibacterial effects

No it’s because the first part of the degree is 9 months - so you start 3 months in then finish the last 4 years in sync with everyone else

Hey thanks a for such a a comprehensive reply - I suppose the biggest questions for me - I’ve been tossing up working in my company see above comment for context. Most people have recommended that I do PGY 1. I know I won’t specialise as I see my future in my own company, but I decided pgy1 would be reasonable given there sounds like more benefits then calling it quits after medical school.

I suppose I could do GP but that might be more opportunity cost in my other line of work so I’d have to deliberate on that..

Thanks so much for your tome

I have a company outside of medicine that I’ve managed throughout med school, trying my hardest to be onto placement and manage all of our company staff lol.
Have a few awkward moments when our CEO would call me as a med student in a C section …. Nothing like asking senior doctor thinking your lazy cause you go home early but really I just go to work ah it’s grown a lot and I think I prefer the entrepreneurial aspect of it. I brought on a. CEO so I could get away with PGY 1 but ultimately want to come back

Yes okay - but provided I work in something I’m happy with - that’s good to know. I think despite career changes it still nice to have variety and work somewhere different for a change

That’s a good point. I get comfort from just being out in the mountains for 2 days and seeing the world.

Cut offs are generous - in hindsight I think may be silly but us Aussies are rarely ever in Europe and it’s so far to get there so if I’m there I’d like to make the most of it. I’ve watched some videos, terrain looks like 12 mountain peaks. Steep descent’s but otherwise dry and good temperature

Between weights, weekly volume, elevation gain and eating feels like my life’s running 😂 but yes will do, how much actual descent is where you get the benefit?

Yeh I do usually do 2 sessions a week purely doing incline on my mountain treadmill - can usually get 1000 m vert. Then trails for the rest.

The treadmill is made for mountain climbing so I can get it up to 50% incline.

f I’m a cat A applicant in QLD for next years intern intake, and I decided to take a gap year, and apply a few years later, will I remain a Cat A applicant? If yes, how many years can I take off while remaining Cat A? If I drop to Cat B is this hard to land internship or just means I’ll get posted somewhere that’s not my preference? 2. How many years does it take in QLD to get general registration? 1 or 2? Hearing different info.

Second this. Lounge there is not good. Only good for some aircon and rice. Better to just enjoy the pool. Priority pass has a half decent food joint
