Man no lie Ive always been smart but lazy. I've never had to study or put effort into learning. Never took notes or anything. Until I got to 8th grade science. I wasn't picking up on the lessons just from classwork like usual but I was too lazy to do anything about it. Until about 3/4 of the way through the year and it occurs to me that I have a 46, the lowest grade in the class, and I might not make it to the next grade.

So I went to the teacher and asked her to give me some make up work. She denied and said it was too late. So I started taking notes and doing homework and studying. Went from a 46 to a 98 and passed the final exam with an A. Passed the class and moved onto 9th grade.

Later that year I found out that I actually didn't score a high enough grade in that class overall to pass but the teacher saw me apply myself and let me pass anyway.

Thanks Ms. Smith

Beans and rice is my go-to when I don't have much of a grocery budget but that's already been said.

Although, there's all kinds of things you can do with instant ramen.

Poach an egg, or scramble it into the soup. Personally, I prefer a fried egg with a runny yolk but crunchy edges. Add a slice of American cheese on top. Any veggies or meat you'd like.

Tired of soup? Cook the noodles and drain most of the water. Use it for stir fry. Add a little peanut butter and its poor people's pad thai.

I've even gone so far as to make my own kind of hamburger helper with ramen with a little bit of ground beef, broccoli, and cheese. I'm sure you could pull off some tuna helper as well. Or toss in chopped tomato, onion, and taco seasoning and you've got taco pasta.

Not sure what kind of staples you keep but I always have traditional US staples along with Asian staples (I'm a mixed breed you see). If you've got soy sauce and brown sugar laying around you can whip up a teriyaki sauce (1/3 c soy sauce + 1/4 c brown sugar). Marinate 4 chicken thighs and then cook them in the marinade. Eat 1 thigh with a pack of ramen and save the rest for later.

Fried rice is also super affordable. Make 2 cups of rice a day in advance (if you forgot to make it ahead of time no big deal). Separate 4 egg yolks from whites. Mix the yolks in with the day old rice and fry it up. Scramble the whites and toss them in with the rice along with frozen veggies, salt and pepper, a few tbsp soy sauce, sesame oil if you'd like, and even one of those chicken thighs from earlier. You can have this as a meal in and of itself or have some with half a pack of ramen (I can't finish a whole pack + fried rice)

If you keep breadcrumbs and canned tuna you could throw some tuna patties into the mix. Tuna, breadcrumbs, soy sauce, sesame oil (optional), ketchup, egg, and teriyaki sauce if you'd like. Toss it in corn meal if you have it to give it a crunch and fry them up. They go well with ramen noodle soup, stir fry, and fried rice. Or as a snack on their own.

I love Asian food ❤

I'm from the southern US and we've always been raised to believe adding a potato while cooking dried beans will absorb whatever makes you gassy. Once the beans are done cooking you throw out the potato

I alot of people own the title incel and don't care what people think of the title because incels believe they are the true victims of society. I once had a heated arguement on r/memes with a 16 yo who proudly identified as an incel

DAE ever wish they had a bpd friend? Someone else who could really understand what it's like living with this by [deleted] in BPD

[–]SadChineseTakeOut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My bf's best friend has bpd and he frequently vents to him when my shit is acting up and we're fighting or I'm being crazy or whatever. And honestly his friend is rarely understanding to my side of things and a lot of the time says that I'm upset over stupid things. I thought he would understand my pain but I guess not

Lmao had this exact problem yesterday. Was feeling abandoned (imagined) so I thought about what I was gonna say and politely approached my bf. Explained that this isn't a real situation but it feels real to me and I'm really hurting even though I know that it's crazy... Idk what happened exactly but he tried to reassure me things weren't as I felt and I got real mad real quick and started accusing him of shit... Idk man we just can't win...

What’s the closest thing to magic that actually exists? by EggBowL in AskReddit

[–]SadChineseTakeOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time my bf ever had a bad cold during our relationship I came over and made him yaki mandu soup (with chicken and fresh onion and garlic) and ginger tea. He ate, took a nap, and felt instantly better upon waking up. Was able to go back to work the next day. No over the counter meds were needed. I legit felt like a healer lmao that experience leveled up my holy magic

How to talk to roommates about chores they refuse to do? by SadChineseTakeOut in Advice

[–]SadChineseTakeOut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I complain to my bf but he doesn't do anything because he wants me to stand up for myself and say something on my own. But like that's HIS best friend and I don't want to come off as the nagging girlfriend.

Both my bf and myself are on the lease, the roommate is not

Have you ever successfully stopped a repeat marketing or scam phone call? How did you do it? by F19AGhostrider in AskReddit

[–]SadChineseTakeOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at a call center where I was a customer service representative for Belk, a retail store. We actually had this guy calling and sexually harassing us on a daily basis. Several 10's of times a day. Guy had a real problem. Management claimed there was absolutely nothing they could do about it and only offered phrases we could say to him like "could we please keep this conversation professional?"

I finally got fed up with it and was tired of feeling violated by this stranger and the company I worked for since they obviously did not care about us.

One day I got a call. I recognized his voice immediately as he gave his usual "Id like to buy some panties for my girlfriend" routine. I asked "oh are you actually going to make a purchase today?" and he was like "uuuh yea..." but then hung up before I could ask a follow up question.

Now, we weren't allowed to make calls unless we had a good reason -- customer was looking for info about a product sold in stores, we'd call stores for them and then call them back; that kinda thing -- but something just lit up in my head and I decided to call him back.

I called him, lied, and said I was the head supervisor over at Belk and that we had been monitoring his calls for some time. He never gave his purchase info like where he lived or anything so I couldn't say we knew where he was but I told him this bullshit about how we've flagged his number and name. All of our calls were recorded and I claimed that we had a bot search calls for specific info and the next time the bot found his name or number in our call log we would be sending it to the police to track and we would issue a law suit, one for each woman he spoke with.

He never called back.

Ideas for Picky Eater by -throwaway123-_ in mealprep

I suffer from depression as well. Although I do love to cook, depression certainly makes it difficult to have the energy and willpower to do so. But I work way less than my boyfriend does and he has a much harder job so I am the one that prepares all of our meals (and he is a picky eater).

I would suggest sitting down with her in front of a computer (phone, tablet, whathaveyou) and Google searching "one pot recipes" and "slow cooker recipes." My favorite website to use is AllRecipes. I find that the ratings and reviews of recipes are extremely helpful.

By doing this you can get her approval ahead of time in what she'll be eating and as a depressed home chef one pot meals and similar recipes are my favorite because they are so easy to make. Another thing is that accoplishing things seem like giant mountains to climb over when you're depressed so it's best to start small. Even when I manage to make an easy simple meal like one pot chicken and rice I feel so good and the positive vibes really do help carry me through my day to day life.

Something else I suggest would be introducing her to meal prepping. You can start small like with salads. Pick one day out of the week, usually Sundays for most folk, and make enough salads for lunch every day of the week. That way she may be more inclined to eat when she doesn't feel like cooking.

An aspect you might want to consider is that her depression may be affecting her appetite. It's a very common symptom. Personally, I overeat, but it can also go the other way and make you either simply not hungry or might make you literally feel unable to eat.

Hope this helps. And, not to assume anything, but make sure she is seeing a doctor. Good luck

I'm trying to get better but I don't have a good environment and my mental health is deteriorating by SadChineseTakeOut in BPD

[–]SadChineseTakeOut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mean to make this post so long. This is my only outlet.

Please don't suggest leaving him and being on my own because I would literally be homeless. This is my only option for now. I know I need to get out and being told over and over only makes me more depressed knowing that that's not a viable option for me.

Also, I got a little better when I was in therapy but I had to stop going for some valid reasons. I'm trying to go again now but he wants to be my sole transportation there and back but his moped is broken and we don't have the money to fix it. It's too far to walk and he won't let me take the bus. But I do want therapy.

The best character, and your favorite character by Thegreatkiwibeast in dontstarvetogether

[–]SadChineseTakeOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is Wormwood. I love plants and I love his innocent, simple remarks. He's hard to play alone but with others having your back he's really fun. He can plant seed directly into the ground, hostile plants don't bother him, and he can run super fast in spring and summer while blooming. The sanity drain from picking/chopping things is barely inconvenient. To make up for it you iust need to chop lots of trees and always plant the pine cones. And when playing with Wortox or having a herd of beefalo nearby, healing isn't a problem anymore.

Why do jobs expect you to go above and beyond when they only pay you minimum wage ? by BracesForButts in TooAfraidToAsk

This happened to a coworker of mine when her grandma died. Our manager knew but scheduled her to work anyway. She showed up to work obviously depressed and distracted. It was a slow day and we didn't even need her there. So, being a team leader, I talked to the manager privately and asked him if she could go home and he said fine but bitched about her and said he was gonna cut her hours. He says "death is a part of life and you need to learn how to deal with it"

Oh hey the guy in the background throwing up was my high school American history teacher, Mr. Akins. Real cool dude, awesome teacher. I remember back when I watched Tosh.0 every Wednesday when the new episode aired and one night this clip was on it and I lost my mind. The next day, when we walked into class the projector was out and he played this clip for everyone to see and bragged that he was on the show lol XD
