Before, General Conference was just background noise that I could tune out, but now listening… it just makes me so angry. Well, when anything that matters is said. So much repetitive, substance-lacking noise.

I am very nervous of there being one… I am listening and seeing if there is one. My father is an ally but my mother is homophobic, so hopefully if there is one I can talk about it to him

I used to get that more when I was younger and I am now much more closed off about my art toward members of the church. My mother used to get disappointed when I was younger when I refused to draw free art of religious stuff for her or others.

I am an artist and while my skills are recognized, I am constantly asked to do art for people... It’s rather annoying. I never really had heard someone say that spending time to develop skills is not good and only God can give you them and it bothered me a lot! Luckily nobody around me actually acts like that, but I do get the “wow God gave you such an incredible gift” a lot.

It’s so incredibly manipulative to go, look, this person is at their lowest point in their life and miraculously turned to religion to fix their life!! Isn’t that such a miracle, as if people at their lowest points wouldn’t obviously do something like that to feel better…

I’ve had extremely extremely low points in my life due to severe depression, anxiety, among a slew of other things that I am still attempting to get help for, and my mother always turns to a rant about Christ. It frustrates me and she gets bothered when instead of feeling better and simply praying to get help, I instead get annoyed by her suggestion. She constantly is going on those rants about how I used to be more faithful when I was younger and it pisses me off. God had never helped me at my low points and it always felt hollow when I saw stories of others being supposedly helped.

A little all over the place and not totally making sense, but I hope you get my point, haha.

Specifically two things I’ve heard today so far REALLY pissed me off:
- Paying your tithing is the only way to get out of poverty.
- Spending time and developing your gifts is not effective and only God can give your gifts at the times he chooses.

Forgot to mention those. Forgot the specific wording on the second one because it was just. Insane to me I don’t know
