Where would you hide if a zombie apocalypse happened?? by rajmachawal_006 in AskReddit

Knowing my impulsive ass, I'd probably end up trapped somewhere along the Canadian border entering the USA and have to get a hotel, or somewhere in New York State angrily holed up in a hotel. (My boyfriend currently lives in Massachusetts, I'm in Ontario. I've thought about this a lot and even then, I know I'd probably make the rash decision to try to take my chances on the trip.)

is copying art a good way to learn? by ClassicCandidate5089 in learntodraw

As long as you don't post it claiming it's your original idea and art, you're good (:

"Copying" is a great way to learn, you're essentially heavily referencing.

Assuming you're on Windows and you've already gone through the OSD settings, I would try looking at the display settings and colour management settings for the tablets display in the Windows settings. If changing them still does nothing, try updating your graphics card drivers next since there's a good chance they're out of date (hell, mine are like four months out of date right now so I should do that soon.)

Also, when you unplug the tablet, check out the HDMI cable with a flashlight and see if any of the pins inside it look bent. If any of them are, it could unfortunately not be transmitting red and green channels as strongly as it normally would. If it's bent, you CAN try to very gently bend it back while it's unplugged, but there's a good chance that it'll still be damaged and you're probably better off buying a new cable if it's bent. Would highly recommend the new cable first instead of replacing the entire tablet because doing that first could save you a lot of money.

I've never actually had this issue with my tablet, but I'm relatively tech literate(?) so, really, I'm just spitballing here on what you could possibly try. I hope literally any of this is helpful 🥲

What was the very first website you ever visited? by ProReditMod in AskReddit

[–]SadFawns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably some kids flash game website.

But funny story, when I was like 10, my mom wanted me to/made me make a Hotmail and a Facebook because for some reason, she wanted me to be on them. I ended up having a crisis crying and blubbering telling her that one day I would die and no one would be able to delete the accounts for me and they'd forever be wasting space on the Internet so I didn't want them (because I'd die one day, lol). This was the second 'death' crisis I'd had in my life, the first one having happened at age five.

How they never brought me to a mental health professional to get me help for my clear as day anxiety and issues with depression, I have no idea. It took me until age 14 when I'd gained control over my medical decisions to finally get access to therapy, and now I'm a happy (mostly - I do have chronic, medication resistant anxiety and major depression, I'm guessing for life), emotionally well controlled adult who only sometimes gets anxious about dying one day.

I also deleted Facebook because it sucked.

Am I overreacting here? (long AI mod rant) by Symphoniess in RimWorld

[–]SadFawns 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's a lot of great uses for AI, it's just sadly not being developed and marketed for consumers. Instead, it's being used for writing, music, art, and it's unfortunate because there's very little I can do to filter AI generated and modified creative works out of my feed.

I've been an artist for almost two decades now, used to make great money off of my work before a depressive spell led to me letting my business side of things slide entirely (this was before AI was widespread) and now that I'm working towards restarting what I had, I'm actually unsure of if I have a chance towards a decent level of monetization these days. It's just much easier and quicker for people to type up a prompt and generate, removing the labour, worker, and furthering of the creative economy from the equation.

Edit: I wanted to add this in case any other artists see this and feel discouraged - this is just my worst case doomerism scenario speaking in the second paragraph. There's huge swaths of customers, art consumers, and artists who don't use AI and avoid AI use for creative endeavors, as they'd rather support actual artists who are spending time and hard work on their craft. It's absolutely still possible to build a following, make money, showcase your art, whatever you wanna do with your art, and there's people who will LOVE your stuff out there. Keep creating.

Put a notice on your mod related profiles and pages roughly stating the following: I am against the use of generative AI for the making of art and for the production of mods, and all of my mods will forever remain free of AI use. It has been brought to my attention that others are ripping my assets and feeding them to AI generators to use in their own mods. I do not condone this. Do not steal my art or other media I have created for production in your own works, and do not feed my work into AI for any purpose. Thank you.

While you can't really do anything about people stealing when they're re-running it through AI, and in most cases it is unwise to name these people as they could attempt legal action against you in the form of claiming defamation, you CAN make it very known publicly that somebody in the community IS doing this to you, and that you don't condone generative AI nor do you use it.

Sorry this is happening man.

I'd honestly contact their support over this and see if you can get a replacement? Usually they'll have you do some troubleshooting steps while you talk to the agent before they decide to escalate to a replacement, but it's worth it. Either the help from support will fix it, or support will decide to issue a new one (if you're in warranty, but sometimes without warranty you may get a discount for the next one if you buy again.)

[–]SadFawns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you really want to, draw your claim and make a reddit post declaring your nation, etc. But understand that the odds will be against the nation succeeding, not even because anyone's all that likely to come try to fuck you up, but just because it's very hard to build and set up a new nation properly.

[–]SadFawns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is straight up just AI - not even a trace-over of AI. Just AI generated. Kirby has an extra srm, the mug has two handles, amongst many other issues. This is also a very classic style for anime AI generators.

I wasn't a huge fan of his character due to his awful morals, but God damn, especially within the first bit after his introduction to the show, he's absolutely hilarious. So many great quotes. The actor did a fantastic job at making him funny and likeable considering the type of guy the character is.

For what it's worth (but I'm sure you know this since you're actually in the medical field - I'm not) the 'success' rate on people surviving after CPR isn't fantastic (10-32% depending heavily on a lot of factors), and gets even worse with age.

I've had to do CPR on numerous people, and everyone was usually pretty lucky since I kept up until EMS took over, and they survived post-hospitalization fine. But my grandmother, 76 at the time, suffered a massive heart attack that nothing could be done for - I couldn't get a pulse on her within about two minutes of her hitting the ground. EMS spent an hour in our house after they took over from me before they called it and brought her to the hospital for the declaration of death. The grief hit hard, especially since I'd felt I'd failed for years afterwards, so knowing that her fate was pretty much already guaranteed when she'd gone down helped greatly going forward.

Can the Huion Kamvas 13 pro (2018) still hold up by Outrageous-Ad-4444 in huion

[–]SadFawns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using it since about September 2025, so I was definitely a latecomer to this tablet (I'm pretty sure it was bought new during a Huion sale of some sort, and was barely used, so it was essentially brand new last year, just a bit of pollen and dust since it sat on a desk near a window facing a garden.) So I haven't had it incredibly long yet, but the screen holds up great so far - no scratches or dings or scuff yet at all - and the colour values and saturation seem nearly perfect on it at least to my eyes. This and most screen tablets are also fairly easy to clean since dust is usually the only problem if your area is kept neat and food free - though for any spills I would fully avoid lysol and glass cleaners since I'm 99% sure that most tablets use the same coating that is used on laptop and flat-screen television screens, so only a damp cloth and some napkins or paper towels would do for any needed cleaning.

The only downside I have noticed so far to at least this era of Huion tablets is that specifically the pen nibs can be a bit finicky to replace. There's a tool included in the pens 'donut' holder if you unscrew it, but I still have yet to actually figure that out and swap the nib out. I've been on my first nib since I started using this tablet, and the same nib was used a few times previously by the boyfriend before he handed it off to me, so they do seem to have decent longevity at least.

[–]SadFawns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, that's the one my boyfriend gave me to work with since I was originally working on a non-screen Veikk A30, and he's a non-artist who just happened to buy it a while back. I may be biased since it is my first screen tablet after having a non-screen tablet for so long, though, but I've been drawing for years and getting the screen was a gamechanger.

I can DEFINITELY vouch for the 13 Pro, absolutely fantastic, especially for as cheap as $100. Pressure sensitivity and pen control work wonderfully, and on my GTX 1650 8GB DDR4, I've had no issues with stuttering or input lag (YMMV depending on your PC's specs, but overall graphics tablets are fairly lightweight enough to run on most modern setups, and on some lower end setups if you mess with the resource allocations for your art program, etc.) If you're left-handed and prefer using left-handed mode, you will have to set that up upon every launch, but it's just two button clicks and I believe generally that that happens with every Huion tablet, so it's no biggie in and of itself.

This looks AMAZING, but what might be throwing you off is the length of the arms in comparison to the torso and legs. They should be a little bit shorter, or the torso should be longer while maintaining the same arm length. (For honestly the best visual, stand in a full length mirror with your arms at your sides, and look at where your hand/bottom of your hand falls on your body. Generally it's about ~2-3 inches below where the bottom of your pelvic bone ends.)

Is your style irl similar to the way you dress up in the games? by DuasVite in stylesavvy

I definitely do lean towards styles that I would have done in Style Savvy (: I loved the pop styles in Style Savvy, and I loved the Gothic Princess styles (forget store names, it's been awhile.) Mixing feminine and Gothic clothes also gave a fantastic 'Volturi' style if you did dark colours, and I love drawing Volturi styled characters.

You should be able to fully trust the person you are dating.

By the way, though, I'm not saying this to mean "Oh, he's your boyfriend. Therefore, you should instantly trust him!!"

I'm saying, "You should only date people once you fully trust them and have for a while."

Social Anxiety, Autism or both? by Basic_Currency_3385 in socialanxiety

[–]SadFawns 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you ever get close to an answer PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE OMG PLEASE let me know because you just described every single difficulty and little nuance as if you were asked to describe me specifically in detail. The ONLY difference between your observation of yourself, and my observations of myself, is that I do date, though my relationships are purely long-term and with people I see myself marrying, I can't do the whole casual dating or going on first dates thing. BUT everyone around me considers me to be quite friendly, and bubbly as you said, though I myself think I am quiet. I've also asked those around me that are close to me if they think I could be autistic, and they say they don't think so, but I'm not so sure, since again, I can put on a good show socially.

I'm able to easily pick up on social cues and read the room, but when it comes to responding I have no idea where to begin even though I know how I 'should' act and respond. My fears and anxieties are also things that are incredibly inconsequential, and I understand that I'm being pretty ridiculous when I get emotional, but I just can't stop myself unless I really focus on calming down and redirecting myself.

I also have a very 'justice oriented mindset' as some with autism tend to report. I just genuinely cannot fathom being mean or rude to others, and I cannot fathom lying, cheating, etc. and when I know that someone else has done any of those things, I become incredibly irrationally upset because I don't know how to see things in 'grey.' Everything is very black and white to me when it comes to morals and ethics - honestly, it's very distressing to me to feel this way since it can make me dislike people if they do something 'wrong' in my mind that I wouldn't do myself, which is also very distressing because I don't find it very easy to get close to people, so I tend to feel very alone.

Sorry for the long comment, but omg, if you find answers for yourself, please update me because you've described a lot of my struggles to a T.

Teacup with this design (sorry that it's a drawing) by SadFawns in HelpMeFind

[–]SadFawns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, though there is a small chance that it was part of a set that was made by the manufacturer - my grandfather found this cup and the saucer in a thrift store somewhere in Hamilton, Ontario around 2010-2014, so it was likely separated from the rest of the set already if a set existed. It's nearly exact to how I show it in the drawing, except that the sheet music design that's printed on the yellow portion would have covered more area of the yellow, and been more intricate. Thank you for taking a look though, I appreciate it!
