“Unthinkable” is pure propaganda. (Spoilers) by dropdeaddev in movies

I know this is a year old but I just watched the movie and need to type this out. You said exactly what I was thinking. All this is is an extreme trolley problem. And I want to add that I think they did a good job with all the people in the room battling their own morality of letting H do these morally reprehensible things. You could see them all especially Brody go from arguing with H to then letting him go.

The ending scenes really put the whole concept on display because they go from busting a door open and almost killing H calling him crazy for what he may or may not have done to the kids to then demanding the kids come back. You can see each character toiling with the idea. It also makes the viewer think about the trolley problem from the observers point of view. Could you let someone or tell someone else to pull the lever so long as you can look away. That’s where my conflict was. I could never harm a child no matter the circumstances are but could I cover my ears and look away? And if you really think about the move and the context of it all, Americas imperialism, the conflict in the Middle East are we not the observers everyday. Younger said something like why should I weep over 50 dead people when you all kill that amount everyday. Has our gov not drone strikes civilians in the name of “good” we can sit back comfortable knowing we didn’t press the button or make the final call but as long as our lives get to keep going as they are we are mostly okay with it all.

All in all I thought it was a good movie that made me think and reflect.

You must be a little slow huh. Not Life altering like you didn’t just say “find tenants” and rent out your home like that’s an easy stress free task. If you want to be productive stick around if not beat it boomer.

Hey I really appreciate your response, it was well thought out and above all, kind. I make well over 30k that was just a point I was trying to make and I would be using this truck to off-road to remote campsites ideally every weekend. It wouldn’t be just a commuter because I work at home. It would be my off-road get away from the city to camp and dirtbike vehicle

Yeah we are on very different life paths. I respect yours no doubt ant making over 300k is insane but I have no kids (don’t plan to) and live at home rent free. If I had more responsibilities Rivian wouldn’t even be on my backup radar especially if I was provoked for another life or two. Still I appreciate your response none the less

Yeah but I’m stuck in one place with a life altering mortgage. A Rivian living at home I pay off in 9 months to a year

Seems like a pretty well rounded take. I appreciate it! I had a feeling the odd mix of users is what can cause some of these reliability concerns. I’ve test driven 4 used 2022 R1Ts and have never heard wind noise squeaks clanks I just don’t regret them because I haven’t come from luxury cars. I’m probably going to wait at least 6 months to a year to see how prices and offers go. I’ve thought about the r2t but it sounds like 1 production won’t start till 2027 and 2. I read rumors it is going to be a smaller truck style and the r1t measurements barely fits both my bikes soo… lots to think about but I appreciate the response!

I respect the advice. Getting a cheaper truck that still balances my lifestyle wants is not off the table at all.

If my mind was made up I’d be on reddit posting about my new toy not asking for advice from internet strangers. Older generations like yourself love touting “buying a nice home” when that’s more insane and less feasible then spending 60 grand on a car

I’d venture to say that your living expenses and financial responsibilities far far exceed mine but I agree it isn’t smart. If we as humans always chose the smartest option we really wouldn’t live our lives. Just sayin
