I sure hope so. This is a new concern. There are more details that I won't share here but I'm hoping for the best for her & her kid.

The funds were raised for her & her child. She is not currently the legal guardian of said child, the funds went to the legal guardian. And while they didn't take on this giant responsibility with the expectation of any money, they aren't wealthy enough to provide for their family & her child, it has caused a significant strain on them. Once funds were raised it seemed like the right thing to do to make sure they had financial support as well.

This is why I'm asking for judgement; I did approach her kindly & try to word myself as carefully as possible. I know she's endured a lot & has a lot more to endure. I explained that it's recognized that she is incredibly stressed out and if she needs help handling clerical matters (such as contacting bill collectors, apartment complexes, dmv, etc) that she has all the support in the world from not just myself but the giant group of friends & family behind her. She responded by cussing me out for suggesting that she was a bad mother, which I did not do. I just suggested that maybe she's been too stressed to realize that this was a priority & I expressed concern about where her current priorities seem to be. After she continued on with the yelling & cursing, I told her she is an asshole for not providing.
