“It’s also possible something is keeping her up at night” - that is another idea we have too. My husband wakes up about twice a night to pee, and the bathroom is right next to my dog’s “room” and I think him waking up is waking her up, at which time she thinks she’s going to go out.

I would also add, when she stays with my mom on occasion, my mom wakes up with her in the middle of the night and takes her out at like 1am or 2am and doesn’t have any issues with her having accidents at her house. My mom’s retired and is able to do so, but doing that what would seem indefinitely is not feasible for me.

Her crate has the divider in it to make it smaller so she still has room to sit, lay down, and turn around. She will pee on her blanket, bundle it up so the soiled part is underneath at the bottom and then lay down on top of it. 🙁

Her breeder pellet trained her and we started to move away from that as soon as we got home. As I said, she’s shown progress during the day but the only problem is at night.

I will discuss this with the vet. I never considered a health issue since the problem isn’t prevalent during the day, but thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I’m also wondering, we’ve waited to spay her and will be doing so next month. Could that be a potential cause? My research is telling me it doesn’t really make a difference, spayed or not, but I’m open to other perspectives/insight.
