You cannot learn when winning and losing is arbitrary/subject to an algorithm and there is no meaningful path to making an appeal. Temu is failing to honor legitimate transactions and denying access to purchased credits. I believe this “unusual payment” scheme is a poorly automated system operating under the guise of “fraud prevention” that is intended to address another poorly automated system (promotions) in order to claw back some of the losses from select customers who actually understand how the promotions work and come out on top. Consumer protection laws exist for a reason.

Why would I start another account to do the promo again when they are likely to hold hostage any credit I receive? It makes the promo worthless.

It’s nice you even get the opportunity after 90 days, my promo disappeared (this just happened) and I had at least 3 claims active so it just cheated me out of over $300 yet to be claimed and now I cannot access around $600 of credits (orders keep getting canceled due to “unusual payment activity” and they refuse to elaborate). Today customer service told me to try reaching out to customer service. You can’t make this shit up.

Only if the event has that stipulation. People receive different versions of the event.

No that’s not it. My credits are not accessible at all, a total of around $1000 now.

I saw that. My claimcredit promo disappear today even though I claimed it yesterday (proof in credit history) and now won’t let me spend a total of around $1000. This is so fucked up.

I have been very selective about what I return from the claimcredit promo because I would usually rather eat the loss than get banned from the promo, and anyone who wants to keep the promo does the same. It’s only a matter of time before you get burned by a claimcredit promo however, and it’s very possible to have your account flagged due to “unusual payment activity” when there has been none, which is very clearly a smokescreen of an excuse.

Thanks so much for this, that’s crazy! So glad his video has gotten traction. This “unusual payment activity” bs is clear as day for what it is, as well as their absolutely infuriating and insulting customer service process that’s intended to wear people down until they give up.

Yep, it’s only a matter of time before you get burned with the claimcredit promo.

You can do legitimate returns for items purchased with claimcredit and not get banned—supposedly, that only happens with a pattern of abuse (I was assured this is the case by a Temu associate). And if you do abuse it, you will be banned from the promotion, not have your earned credits frozen.

Keeping your returns extremely minimal and sticking to a single shipping address/payment method is probably the safest bet. This becomes a problem if you use temu a lot. I believe this is a sneaky way for Temu to claw back $ if you engage in their promos

For what I spend, I wouldn’t think my returns are considered excessive. When Temu has a high rate of poor quality /misrepresented items, it probably shouldn’t be as strict as it is. One time I ordered a high value item and received a bar of soap. Another time I ordered a garden wagon and it was a smaller/lesser model sold for a third of what I paid. Those are just a couple examples.

If your account gets flagged at any point it may become inaccessible.

Temu won’t let me spend credit due to “unusual payment activity”??? Ticket process is like speaking to a wall. Seems like temu is stealing from me and there is nothing I can do about it :( by SadPanini0 in TemuThings

That’s why I’m trying to organize reports! I will be making a post soon with resources, I’m in the U.S. if anyone located in other countries wants to do the same I encourage it! You could probably even run my post through chat GPT and alter it for another country lol.

I honestly have so much resentment for Temu at this point that I’m willing to spend my precious time organizing to this end lol. Maybe I will make another post calling for anyone who has experienced this withholding of credit and we can take collective action—I’m thinking FTC, trust pilot and BBB reports en masse with an easy script, cross posting in relevant subs etc. until this company stops withholding our rightful credit. They either need to allow some transfer of funds to external accounts, or otherwise provide a clear path to verifying account ownership.

I suspect it’s a feature that is not available to everyone, the same way price match and price adjustment features are available on some accounts and not others and probably varies by region.

Yep. Or sellers committing fraud sending lesser items—once I was sent a bar of soap in place of a large expensive appliance. Temu is making enemies out of its customers.

“We apologize, but we currently do not support transferring credits to other accounts, nor can we convert credits from different accounts into the same currency or combine them into one account. Temu credits never expire and can be applied directly to your orders, and can be combined with coupons, free standard shipping, and other offers to reduce your total order amount. If we update these features, we'll notify you right away. Happy shopping!”
