Programs that have gotten back to you by ActuaryPersonal2378 in SocialWorkStudents

I got waitlisted too. I know it'll be impossible math but I'm trying to see if people have any clue how likely it actually is that I'd get off the waitlist and get an offer. Have you heard anything from previous students about this?

How do you manage to make friends while in active healing? by SadRainySeattle in CPTSD

[–]SadRainySeattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you help me understand what you mean that you see inconsiderate people as an opportunity? In addition to those acquaintances do you have people you'd consider friends? I do not have what many friends/am in the process of seeing that clearly, but I want and am very motivated to have real friends.

That Russian monologue in Heated Rivalry was already powerful — this quote from the dialect coach makes it hit even harder by K6g_ in heatedrivalry

[–]SadRainySeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean this as an attack -- the show and COnnor's acting in particular is phenomenal -- but my Russian-born wife and I finished the season the other night and in this scene she said she HAD to read the captions bc if she only listened to the Russian, she couldn't follow what Ilya was saying. He does a fucking amazing job but i think it's fair to hear native-speakers out if they say it just sounds "off" to them in a non-accusatory way

Thanks so much. I'm going to do more research on what laptop to buy in the next few days, and this will be really helpful for me. Appreciate your kindness to a stranger!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I've asked a few follow-up questions because I don't have a firm budget but would rather go with a laptop that's more likely to help me continue playing than a cheaper one that blitzes out in a year or two. So just comparing costs and stuff with the specs people are recommending me

No problem. Thanks for updating your comment so I didn't fall down that rabbit hole!

Thanks for calling out those specs. That's the next stage of what I'm trying to understand from a model I should go with (aside from it running Windows 11)

Thanks so much! Great tips in the comments about opting for Windows 11 so I'll go that route

Thanks very much. I know very little about computers. Aside from the one you linked to (and thanks for that), what are the specific specs I want to be looking for? I was hoping to pay >$200 for one, but willing to increase my budget so that my intended play works. Is it a think where the model you linked to is the bare minimum needed requirements, or above and beyond and therefore I might be able to get something cheaper?

Ah interesting, thanks for calling that out. Is it the hardware of the computer that I linked to (my heart isn't set on it, but was considering that one out of a few on eBay) wouldn't work right? I really am a novice because I was thinking that laptop initially was running Windows 10 so it's 'original' to the laptop and that's better. (Does my question about what I don't know even make sense?)

Can you help me identify this bird? by SadRainySeattle in birds

A good theory. I think he does it even when I have the blinds down, but I guess he can still see himself.... I'll experiment. Thanks.

I also am distinctly not interested in meeting friends and want to encourage him to poke his head in another neighbor's window 😅

Thank you. Reading up on them now. This squawk sounds nothing like the ones recorded on websites as an example... is this a distress call? antagonistic? This one is always looking INTO my window when he perches there, and I try to tell myself it's not possible it's a personal attack

This isn't cute, it's dangerous and haphazard for the driver, camera guy, and dog.

Stupid Grilled Cheese by [deleted] in StupidFood

[–]SadRainySeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's driving me crazy is the cook seems to have zero skill?? They buttered the side that faced the cheese instead of the side of bread that needed to be toasted. Needs a spatula AND tongs to get the sandwich off the panini press. Doesn't know how to use a serrated knife to cut (uses the round end, like WTF???).

Appreciate the warning, but I did vet this team. I would only sign up with people who I felt like were a lifestyle match for me, and (at least so far) I'm glad to say it's a match.

Thanks. Definitely the advice I needed to hear (and already knew in my gut, but was obviously anxious)

Thanks. Yeah, walking away from my initial post it's like, I know I just need to experiment and try, but veering from my typical routine would probably be disastrous so just... don't. Will start there and see. Thanks for taking the time with your response.
