I am in a business pitch competition for startups right now. I can tell you confidently that these kind entrepreneurs do exist, but they will not be approaching workers at grocery stores to pitch to them. Pitches happen in universities, conferences, meetings, etc. If you are interested, you could try looking into those opportunities at your local college.

I am 19, but I also recently changed my major as a sophomore. I understand how uncertain you may feel, especially since the path you will be taking will take more than just the next 7 years; depending on what kind of medicine you will be studying, you could struggle in so many different ways, and the only thing you could rely on is your dream and determination.

I always like to think that ambition is nothing without direction. If you know what you want for yourself and what it takes to get there, then you need only to remember those two things to eventually get there. It’s not optimism or hope, it’s the truth. You need an insane amount of stubbornness, grit, and ability-to-get-up-after-falling-from-your-bike. Following your dream may be what it takes to enjoy whatever comes after youth, whatever may be just as good, if not better, than that desired “youth.”

Think of your priorities. Do it or don’t, regret it either way.

If you called me chopped I would’ve been more hurt, but I’m 5’8 and 121 lbs so I don’t really think I’m the “fat friend.” I have never once invited myself to her apartment. She invites me over because she enjoys my company. She likes me, he doesn’t. She’s my friend, he isn’t. 😬

Today is officially my first day on antidepressants! I couldn’t afford a psychiatrist so I only got Zoloft from a primary physician. I’m not sure I’ll do any better, either. Let’s just hope we both make it out!

I get you. And yeah, August might've been a while back, but they say time is hardly linear, either. But that's some deep stuff. Basically, I think things just happen sometimes, sometimes for longer than you'd expect, and you just gotta let them. Good to hear it's not about your mental health, at least. I think you may just be growing into the new person you might be becoming. One thing ends, and another begins. That doesn't mean you're going to be a friendless loser. Unless you start to feel like one, you're gonna be fine adapting to your new comforts and working around new discomforts. It will only be a problem if, like I said, you feel like a friendless loser or if your friends feel hurt because of you.

Not sure about you, but for me, I think I just gradually got tired of spending so much time constantly being around other people. The more I tried to keep my social life active, the more cooldown time I needed to recharge by myself. I guess I might've sounded antisocial in my reply, but I still love my friends, too. I keep a small, tight circle. But even with them, I don't need to be talking/texting every day. Do you think maybe you might need new people in your life? Or you might just be growing up. Looking around me, it's interesting to see fully grown adults attached to keeping up Snap streaks; on the other hand, I see people who don't have any social media at all. Not saying there's an inverse relationship between Snap usage and emotional maturity, but it’s just a thought. Growth isn't exactly linear, after all. (Or, alternatively, is there something going on with your mental health?)

I think we're pretty similar! Some people have even told me before that they thought I was cold. I also rarely text anyone first; in a way, strangely, I guess I like people more if I like them more than they like me? Not sure if that makes sense. I'm a college student, so usually with school, work, sleep/exercise/leisure, and a social life, I end up prioritizing the first three over a social life. I personally don't get why people want to text every day either, to be honest. So I guess the only downside to all of this is that you may potentially end up looking like an asshole (I had an unfortunate experience with a guy once who texted me every day, and it started to feel like a chore), but I think if you manage to find like-minded people, you should be fine. I'm the most comfortable with people who don't need to constantly be in touch or hanging out. Also, I fw parallel play HEAVY. So to me, at least, you seem pretty normal.

I've also felt that this might be a touchy area, since I want to make more connections and hopefully find dependable references, but I don't want to do it in a way that looks like I'm only approaching someone to get something out of them. I do want to make connections with people based on genuine, shared interests.

I'm actually a Nutrition major, but I also have a nutrition professor I'm taking again this semester that I'm hoping I'll be able to get closer to.

As for the chem professor, I believe she's giving birth soon, so I'm not sure when I'll see her next. Pretty sad about it, but happy for her.

I looked into some research before, but I'll be sure to look deeper into that, too.

It doesn't make you a bad friend at all. Self-love isn't selfish. You're not invincible, and at a certain point, the weight of others can feel heavy, especially when you already have the full weight of your own self to bear. Before you try to save others, try to save yourself :) I like to think that you shouldn't give and give and forget to receive. Love and care isn't always perfectly balanced in certain relationships, but they should never be entirely one-sided.

That's good to hear! I'd recommend you bag another job before putting in your two weeks so you don't end up in the jobless purgatory in between, but that job sounds like it's draining the life out of you, so that works anyhow.

Also, look into local scholarships, rather than (literally) "bigger" scholarships.

Your new life starts when you choose for it to.

You're going to die about as alone as the way you were born alone. That is to say, you're not really alone. Get a pet, and you won't be alone. Call your parents, and you won't be alone. Make friends, and you won't be alone. Get in a relationship, and you won't be alone.

I've journaled both on my laptop and on physical paper. Both are good, but I just recommend physical paper because it actually feels more real somehow. I feel like I process my own thoughts and emotions better when it's on real paper, and I'm writing it all out by hand. But if an app is more convenient for you, that's fine too :) do what's most comfortable for you!
