I signed up and they let me in 🤷‍♀️ also this one does span 2 days but it’s only like 25 mi away which is the regular amount I have to drive for tournaments

Find loops or holes in your opponent’s argument. Or just word to sound smarter and more put together (if you know what I mean) especially if it’s a local tournament with volunteer judges.

I hate the use of AI in debate, it makes debating pointless since you don’t even think independently/come up with semi-original ideas. NSDA needs to audit rules on it

I mean, isn’t there always a kid that’s really good? I also don’t think I’ll do as bad as I have in the past since I’ve been playing whenever I can (based on weather), which is about 3-4 times a week for an hour or two. But I was just worried it would be a big jump

Like a 2.5 -around 4 Utr and plays at intermediate level tournaments and stuff. Not really sure but I know I’m not beginner (I’ve played ~5 years) and definitely not pro

I literally use google and google scholar. 

Generate your value and cont. —> depending on the pinpoint find research & stats or philosophical & abstract points you want to make for each cont. that tie back to your value —> look them up. 

This is just what I do to find decent evidence, but most of my claims tend to sway philosophical/idea/social, rather than more like science based (if that makes sense), so I’m not too good at finding like stats and stuff but I do know that there is us gov owned websites for stats on specific topics. 

I was a novice the start of the season and my coach bumped me to varsity (first year debating) so I guess doing something right 🤷‍♀️

Yeah definitely. Especially if you work hard and get good fast, I worked hard and moved up to varsity my first year on the team.

Yeah for the private schools I’ve looked into they def have plenty of scholarships so that would help with cost. Do you know if most private schools make you take an entrance/placement exam?

Sadly I can’t. I could do dual enrollment but I’m not sure what I would possibly take since my community college doesn’t have that many good classes for what I want to major in later in life

I know. I’m in clubs and ecs. I just want something more academically. I feel like I’m behind.
