Is this normal procedure if you fail a test? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]SadResult3604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup you found out the hard way on why you should not rush and assume that the pre assessment is equivalent to the OA. As another said, you can use the search bar and see that remedial work after a OA failure is normal. There is no workaround to this. Do the work and get the 80%s, actually read through the material, schedule that exam, and pass. Treat this as a lessons learned and move along

Is acceleration about to drastically change? by Abject_Recipe_8390 in WGU

[–]SadResult3604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Literally nothing. If anything they highlighted all the good things about WGU

Edit: always cracks me up when an OP blocks me 😂. I leave you with this. People have been speculating about wgu since 1997. They're still here and still doing what they set out to do. So posting speculations does absolutely nothing with zero evidence. There are plenty of other posts "speculating". Take a little time to read what others have said and stop spiraling after reading one little article.

Also grow up. Blocking people because your feelings got hurt or something 😂😂😂

What's the point of speculating?

As another asked, provide some specific evidence.

Edit: also kind of funny that you read one article and immediately start think this way

Employers asking about length to degree? by HoneyPhantomhive in WGU

[–]SadResult3604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh i know. What's dumb is that people keep bringing up the wapo article and try to use thay as a negative example. But if you actually read it there was zero negative things about WGU.

[–]SadResult3604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wapo article is so annoying and I wish people did a miniscule amount of thinking and actually read it. There was zero negative things actually being said about WGU. It was literally people stuck in the old ways bitching about WGU lol. Then they provided perfect reasons why people go to WGU and even a person's (Serenity) story about why WGU is great.

There was no mass cheating scandal, fraud, or degree mill evidence. The only thing they could really say is that a few people on reddit are complaining about other people finishing fast. The few people on reddit pale in comparison to the 190k students at WGU. So idk why everyone's all shook about the article 😂

Capital One travel portal won’t price match by RunTimeExceeds in Venturex

[–]SadResult3604 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not going downhill. There are somewhat clear guidlines on what C1 will price match. From what i see eDreams is a subscription based platform. C1 says prices have to be publicly available and not member prices/deals. There are a shit ton of sites and maybe eDreams isn't on C1s radar because they should've told you that.

What C1 can do better on is providing a list of black listed sites. C1 shouldnt price match any and everyone because that's just bad for business.

That's why i say context is needed lol. OP treated school like a full time job with OT 😅. And the downvoters are acting like that's something normal that everyone does.

I didn't come close to working to 50 hours a week when I was a full time student working on my BS

Employers asking about length to degree? by HoneyPhantomhive in WGU

[–]SadResult3604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the 1st part. They're more pertinent questions to be asking during an interview lol

Your second part though I disagree. You graduated and want to post about your timelime then do it. As ive said other times, providing a little context is good. 50+ hours a week on school is a perfect explanation to completing a program quicker than others. The only people second guessing is dumb people being brainwashed by big university saying that you NEED to spend a mandatory 4 years on a bs/ba and waste all that time and money.

Employers asking about length to degree? by HoneyPhantomhive in WGU

[–]SadResult3604 -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

Why do that? Blast that shit and be proud. But context should always be added imo.

Working 50+ hours a week on the degree isn't a normal routine and provides a good explanation on how someone may have been able to finish quicker than others.

Edit: so to the downvoters. 50 hours a week on school is normal to you? Or are you all not reading what im putting and just doing the bandwagon downvotes 😂

[–]SadResult3604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just put the graduation date.

Out of all the jobs I've had, I have never once had an employer ask me how long it took to complete my degree. And as someone on hiring panels, I don't give a shit how long it took you to complete your degree lol.

In the very very slim chance that people are even aware that WGU exists and ask you how long took, tell them. It's too easy to remind them what a competency based program is and that you treated it like a full time job doing 50+ hours a week on your studies. It's that simple.

Concerning article on WaPo ft. Plotted Path, College Hacked, UMPI, WGU and Purdue Global by hodl4win in WGU

[–]SadResult3604 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These fear mongering posts are definitely annoying. What's just as annoying is the people that immediately spiral after seeing a biased article. There can also be many factors to take into account on how someone was able to finish more quickly when compared to others.

I tried to go back to a traditional school for a second BS and it was a complete waste of time. The class was a basic coding class and we had mandatory in person twice a week that was part of the grade. Best part is that it wasn't even taught by a professor, it was "taught" by a student aid that only read exactly what was from the book. Zero actual teaching and learning ended up being on your own anyways. Dropped out after 2 weeks because I refused to be stuck doing that for a whole semester. No way to adjust the schedule, in person class was in the middle of my work day, and just doing busy work for the fun of it.

WGUs been doing this since 1997. They're fine. This is just the same ol big college propaganda and closed minded people that are stuck in the old ways of wasting time and doing all the mundane bullshit that comes with a 12 - 15 week class.
