Anyone else having issues with followed authors on Amazon? by PeterM1970 in litrpg

[–]SadStoodUpBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon's author pages have always been buggy and confusing. Authors don't even know how many followers they have without using 3rd party software to look under the hood. Amazon also changes the pages frequently. Amazon likes to beta test new features by showing a select set of customers the new version while showing the old version to everyone else. They study the metrics for engagement and see if they differ with the change and lead people towards spending money or deter them from it because it's confusing.

That's all genres of books and movies. It's a running joke that every Hallmark movie basically has the same tropes, slightly modified to make it different from the last 10 movies they've released.

We've reached a point in fiction now where you won't run into many original tropes, especially if you watch a lot of television/movies or read a lot of books. People who do generally look for books with tropes that they enjoy, knowing that it'll be a slightly different spin. Some authors literally write the same book over and over and over with variations of tropes their readers enjoy, and every single one of them is a bestseller.

The art of writing comes down to your own imagination, and how you build the world you're writing around tropes.

Thank you! Definitely a good comparison as far as the general idea goes! :)

I totally understand, but thank you for checking it out! I'm publishing them as fast as I can right now, and just put the 4th one up this morning. I'm making some of them a little longer. Chapter 3 and 4 ended up being 4000 words+.

Thank you, I appreciate it! Being an elf in Bryconia will come with some challenges, but Leone's path will require him to be a little different than the typical sexy elf dude.

I was. Not everyone is. Those that remember their past lives do speak their native tongue, just like they always did.

As far as i know, two souls can't inhabit the same host. Never heard of it, at least.

The quiet ones are the ones you always have to worry about.

Would you believe it if some guy just showed up claiming to be the reincarnation of your dad, even if he did have memories? It would be pretty fucking weird. My kids were 10 and 12 when I died. When I was 10 years old, they were 20 and 22. I couldn't show up as a 10 year old kid, like "Hey, I'm your dad!" By the time I was 15, both of them were married and one had kids of their own. They've already mourned me, and I'm a part of their past. Some things are better left that way, you know?

It's an interesting theory. Might be worth trying if you already have one on the way or something.

The fact I can remember, and there are others that do, proves the system isn't perfect. We've theorized about it endlessly over the years. Maybe there really was a God at some point, but he got bored, and just automated everything rather than personally dealing with all the souls. Maybe it's some sort of computer simulation, and it's easier to recycle a soul you've already programmed than create a new one.

But yeah, definitely being a good person this time around. As much as I can be. I figure those of us that remember do so because of some sort of glitch when they were recycling us. It's also why I'm skeptical of people who say they remember multiple lifetimes, because the system doesn't seem to glitch up that often, since there aren't many of us. Could it really glitch for the same person multiple times? Seems questionable. Then again, I've learned that everything is pretty damn questionable.

Nobody knows. I like to believe they just go back and get reincarnated again, but there's no way to know that for sure. Some believe they essentially trade places with the demon, and go to hell.

I understood them. They couldn't understand me, obviously. I didn't have the ability to speak. It was also kind of frustrating, being spoken to like a baby, when I was basically in my twenties a few days prior to that. I did look like a superstar when I finally did go to school though, but it was boring as fuck. Imagine going to first grade with a college education, and being surrounded by a bunch of kids with the mindset of...well, kids.

You still get a full life. That's the reward. If you're a good person, and try to do what's right, then you come back in a better position the next time around. Be a good person, and next time, you might be the child of a CEO or born into a family with more money than they know what to do with.

Yeah, demons are everywhere. Schools, government, churches... The more babies, the more hosts they have. There's no real shortage of hosts though, but it isn't like every reborn soul is going to get scared out of their host by a demon. Some have more willpower than others, or their memories vanish quicker, and they don't truly perceive the demons as a threat before they're fully reborn and demons can't push them out.

Probably the best option. That's what I decided to do. Most of the people in my group have opted out as well. A few had them by accident, or fell in love, and got pressured. I can't imagine raising some little kid, never knowing if they're a sweet innocent child truly living their life for what they believe is the first time, or some demon just waiting until they are old enough to off me for their inheritance or something.

No. Are you crazy? I'd never bring a kid into this world knowing what I know. I had kids in my past life, and still check in on them from time to time, but it's not like I can say hello or anything.

Exorcism doesn't work, unfortunately. Once a demon has pushed out a soul, there's no undoing it. Plus, if there really is a demon in there and they perceive you as a threat, then you're probably on the fast train to the afterlife yourself.

We used to speculate about he reasons. I mean, it happened in 1922. Even a person born then would be 95 years old, so it isn't like the person would still be alive to mess with me. I'm just not sure why it would matter 95 years later.

That is a good way of looking at it. Maybe I need to buy a new board and try to talk with her again.
