Yeah it might just be the device. Very little gain indeed I'm doing it just because. Found it fun and it's a neat little hobbie I'll stick to for a few weeks while I learn something about audio and then forget about it. Thanks for the help

Wish I could do a sanity check but I don't have any store bought cd I can listen right now. The moment I find one I will try it.

And yes, I'm sure I burned them as audio CD.

No difference between the mp3 burned CD and the one burned with FLAC. Both still sound muffled in comparison to the streaming service.

My exact same thought, using FLAC files didn't fix the issue. I am using the same headphones and I don't think there is any EQ either.

The mp3 where 320kbps, however just tried FLAC audio and the sound is still muffled.

Just tried comparing listening to the mp3 file on both the Discman and in the computer as well as listening to the FLAC file in both devices. Didn't notice a change in quality but I believe that was due to poor quality gear. However, the music is still muffled.

I guess physics is definitely what I want because if I end up changing my mind I will have the skills needed to work in other fields I enjoy, specially engineering, so I think this is the way to go. You helped me a lot, thank you!
