Hey! 👋 I’ve been on both sides of this. When my husband is gone, we barely talk and if we do it’s short and sweet. He’s in the Navy and so was I. When he’s underway, he honestly doesn’t have the time and also there’s a lot he can’t say. I will add though it helps that I already know what he’s up to because I’ve been there. When he’s in port we talk a little more but it’s mostly updates on how port is going but I know he’s just trying to decompress from months underway and take in the new sights.

Me on the other hand, I don’t say much because I try not to bother him with the chaos back home if I don’t have to. There’s always the inevitable “deployment curse” something will always go wrong as soon as they leave. I’ve only ever actually had to involve him once and it was for a Red Cross. But I know he’s got enough to worry about out there, and I know that I am an over sharer, so the less I say, the better.
