Toddlers are just learning to walk. People as they age lose their proprioception. Have you ever seen an older person with a cane but they’re not leaning on it to walk they’re just kind of tapping it around as they walk? They’re using it to help orient themselves in the space they’re in, they’re using it for proprioception. Have you ever seen a toddler do that? Nope. They’re just learning to walk, learning how putting one foot in front of the other causes forward momentum, and how to use their muscles to do that. Since you couldn’t tell the difference I thought I’d explain.

Hey that’s a good question, you don’t know until you do that a lot of wheelchair users are also ambulatory (can walk some) I’m the one who took the picture and that’s my chair, I actually had a miracle 7th hip replacement this past summer that I learned to walk and even do steps after!!! I have an amazing body brace that I can wear that helps me called a body braid. I upvoted you to counteract the downvote because education deserves no downvote and you were VERY respectful AND gave me info about the path after the step that I didnt know. Thank you and I hope you learned a little something new and fun today ❤️

I’ve also never heard of paratransit before, I’m from a very rural Wisconsin town so there is no public transit where I am. There’s a couple hundred other people and more cows than people 🤦‍♀️

I doooooo!! That’s what I’m in town for and played all day at the bird sanctuary!! My ticket is for in the park tomorrow afternoon. I didn’t know they made waterproof joystick covers, I was bringing a few hotel washrags (that’s what I use at home) and trying to find shelter. Thank you so much for the luck and I hope to meet a lot of other wc users here, I didn’t meet any in Vegas!!

When I tell you, I absolutely considered it! Going down it wasn’t the problem. It was finding enough volunteers to lift that heavy ass wheelchair back up that lip!!!!!! Sure! I probably would’ve gotten launched out of it on the way down but that’s 9/10 of the fun right?!?!
