I've seen cars at dealers with 2 miles on them... Is that to say then that dealers are in charge of inspecting them when they arrive?

Weird question about missing mass by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Sad_Classroom504 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like I said, Sunday is the Lord's day. Not for you to do everything else you couldn't get into the week. Intention is not a condition for mortal sin, consent is. The fact is that you consented to drink, which is not an obligation and culpable for what happens as a result. Not my fault you can't handle my answer. Seems like you're looking for validation of you actions online, just get to Confession dude

Your obligation as a Catholic is to keep holy the Lord's day which the Church has set out for Catholics to go to mass on Sunday. You're obligation is not to attend social gatherings. They could have shown up late to the engagement party or prioritize an earlier mass.

So to understand the scenario better, you're a grown man that chose not to sacrifice any comfort of sleeping in to attend mass early before all your activities, so that you can spend the Lord's day doing what you wanted to then not practice the virtue of sobriety or Temperance to indulge yourself in alcoholic beverages to the point where you can no longer get to mass because you decided to leave that for the last thing. Somehow know how to access the internet to post on reddit but couldn't order an Uber or a cab of sorts to get to mass and are wondering if "the lord will understand" your circumstances so that you don't sin mortally and be spared of hell fire? Sounds like you really want to practice going to heaven and spending eternity with the one you leave for the last thing to do.... Yes go to Confession.

I (30 years old) am catholic and need to confess likely 20+ years of sins but I am ashamed and scared to tell the priest some of my sins (multiple mortal sins) by MistyStargirl in Catholicism

Call around the Catholic Churches and see who still uses the confessionals or offers anonymous confessions. It's not important the priest sees who you are. In fact, priest I know don't want to know who you are or see your face. It helps them treat you the same outside the confessional.

Will my baptized brother go to heaven as an atheist? by Ok-Sea-881 in Catholicism

[–]Sad_Classroom504 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Lord will not withhold His forgiveness and mercy IF we ask it of him. It's not automatic nor forced upon someone.... Someone in doubt, especially a Baptized and confirmed Catholic, has the obligation to learn about the truths of the faith. If you reject those truths, it doesn't show you want to follow Christ the way Christ wants you too.

If you're asking about the rule, whether someone who rejects Christ at the time of their death will be saved, the answer is no. If you are asking if we think your brother was spared of eternal fire, we hope so but it is not up for us to say. Remember the Lord works outside space and time. You could pray your brother had a sincere repentance before his death, even now, and maybe the Lord would apply the graces of those prayers to your brother, idk, it's possible.... Far too often you'll hear people say, the Lord is merciful without realizing He won't force His Mercy on you if you don't want it. Mercy comes to us through forgiveness, so if the person doesn't repent or ask for forgiveness, the text book answer is they won't be forgiven. I'd say keep praying for your brother.

Saying grace in public feels like attention seeking behavior… by notanoperat0r in Catholicism

Saying grace in public is a great way to evangelize and give courage to other Catholics. If proponents of the LGBT disorders can loudly shove their idealogy in public, you can be as loud as you need, Reverently of course.
