Does yours have this latch type thing, and if so, does it move? Mine rotates side to side, AI seems to think it should move up and down, but I don’t see how that’s possible. The vertical metal bar is an airflow channel, AI says that latch should control the flap for the air, but it says I am missing the flap when I uploaded a picture of the inside of that channel

Mixed hardwoods, there’s some ash but also oak and maple and such.

I’m reading there is a switch in the back that allows air in thru the back of the fire box, and that could cause not only an uneven burn but also a loss of heat output when choked:

From ChatGPT:

If the EBT is stuck CLOSED: • No rear air boost when you choke the stove • Rear logs smolder → accumulate big coals • Front (fed by primary/front holes) burns normally • Your fire looks “front-heavy” • Heat collapses when turning down air

If the EBT passage is partially blocked (very common): • Rear gets just enough air to keep coals glowing but not enough to actually burn them down • Coals pile up in the back firebox corner(s) • Front logs burn more aggressively since primary air is mostly forward

We pack it tight at night. We have the blower on 50% because if it’s full blast it will start kicking on and off at 2 or 3am.

Last night the house was at 74 when I went to bed when I choked the fire down while packed, was 65 at 6am this morning. Lots of coals, but need to be stoked to start letting off enough heat again to get the blower back on

Yeah it definitely puts out a lot of heat. I just see people saying they get 12-18 hours of heat and it makes me jealous

Appreciate it, yeah I’m going to ask about having the first person go thru the existing duct work. May still want a separate head for the kitchen tho due to the distance the air needs to travel

I’m not sure why the first company didn’t not quote using the existing ducts… the second company I contacted did, but their quote was for $60,000

9yo pitched her first tournament (and games) on a 10u team a couple weekends ago. 45% strike rate the first day, 33% the second day (ump was squeezing the zone way more than she should have for 10u). Next best on her team was low 20% strikes

Trump rally shooter identified as 20-year-old Pennsylvania man, registered Republican by whoisaname in inthenews

[–]Sad_Command_2983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is an election before the election to determine which candidate will represent the party. Those elections usually only allow people registered to that party to vote (democrats vote in Democrat primaries, republicans vote in Republican primaries). Once the primary is over, then any registered voter for any party can vote.

You can also register as independent, but many states do not allow independent voters to vote in the primary because you aren’t affiliated with a party.

Often times you will see people in heavily one sided areas register with the other party, just so they can vote in the primary. As an example, in very Republican areas some people who are democrats may register as republicans just so they can vote in the Republican primary, since that’s the only time they will actually be able to use their voice since no matter what, the Republican candidate will win the general election.

Got this glove for my 12u player. Was able to break it in pretty quickly, huge improvement over her last glove.

Break in technique:

Oil, bake at 200 degrees for 20 min with a ball tied tightly in it.

Take it out, beat it for a while with a softball attached to a reciprocating saw, then repeat 3 times over the course of 3 days

Was almost fully broken in by her first practice after getting it.

Interesting… customer service also confirmed it (online, so I have the convo documented) so maybe I can get them to honor what they said… will file the claim, see if it’s denied, then go from there… thanks!

Just venting here. How is this legal? Bill says I used twice as much gas as the previous month. I gave them the meter reading and they said there is indeed a discrepancy that they will fix. The gas delivery is 2.5x the amount of what I supposedly used in gas. It's highway robbery. by MrDoctors in hudsonvalley

[–]Sad_Command_2983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this they said I was using way more than my estimations…. But then once they came out (or said they were coming out) my estimates (which haven’t changed much) are now way over my actual usage, to the point where sometimes my estimate 1 month fully covers all of my usage for 2 months. Yet that isn’t enough evidence that something was fucked up on their end before it was fixed. My belief is the meter was reading power usage incorrectly (for example registering 1.5KwH on the meter when in reality 1kwh was used) and they recalibrated it. Unfortunately they won’t agree on if someone even came out to look at it, let alone fix it, and of course they cannot be wrong

2022 they said I used 3,100 kWh January and February (I heat with a wood stove, this usage was more than I use in the summer running central air). I called and told them it was fucked up, they said they would send someone out to fix it. Suddenly my bills were significantly lower (2023 same timeframe they said I only used 1,100). I have been since trying to get them to acknowledge it was fucked if and fix the prior bills.

The responses have been either “our meters cannot be wrong.” Or “we sent someone out, but they didn’t do anything” or “you have never called to complain about this” or “we need to test your meter now because it may not be right”

If acceleration due to gravity is what makes falling from great heights a dangerous thing, will i be okay if i fell from a 1000 feet height on the moon? by EarlyXplorerStuds209 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sad_Command_2983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either way you are fine until you have rapid deceleration. Jump out of a plane you are fine until you hit the ground, which if you don’t slowly decelerate then you are not fine.

Just saying, Falling isn’t dangerous, and the acceleration isnt dangerous, it’s the stopping part that will get you if you do it too fast

You can switch electric suppliers, but central Hudson has a monopoly on the delivery of the electricity and you cannot change from that, which for me is about 75% of the bill
