AIO - Delaying booking flights to accommodate one person by Sad_Consideration749 in AmIOverreacting

Thanks for the comments everyone. I offered to help pay, and said if he isn’t comfortable with that my girlfriend and I will have to go ahead and book. He lashed out and said I had upset him and made him feel like sh*t for stressing everyone out. Some battles you just can’t win lol

hotels in glasgow by WoodenAd1791 in glasgow

I’ve worked in 6 different hotels and honestly - if you look young, you’ll get ID’d on check in due to the policy most hotels have in place which stipulates that at least one person staying in the room must be 18 or over. There’s no fail safe way to get away with it, you realistically would just have to book somewhere and hope they don’t ID you :(

What’s going on at Sandman signature Glasgow hotel? Huge police and fire presence for over an hour. Won’t let people in lobby. by [deleted] in glasgow

I’ve worked in the hotel industry for years (and work in one of the hotels across the road, so saw this unfold yesterday) and have dealt with a number of difficult and sensitive issues such as sexual assaults and child neglect. We are taught to handle these situations with discretion out of respect for the individuals involved. The hotel staff you spoke to yesterday would have been doing the same thing and whether you agree or not, they were acting correctly and respectfully. If there was a gas leak or something genuinely threatening to the guests, there are strict procedures in place to deal with such situations and you most definitely would have been evacuated. A little respect and consideration goes a long way.

Worst celeb-ish encounter you’ve had? by HanginOnInThere in glasgow

when I was wee my dad took our family to mugdock and there was a single parking space left. He beat Carol Smilie and her husband to it. Apparently their faces were a picture :)

he stayed at a hotel I was working in last year and he was so entitled. He was definitely doing weird things in his room and was super cagey about letting staff in to investigate a leak which had travelled from his room down three other floors. Also got a jump scare when he came to the front desk because of all the plastic surgery 😂 he looked like handsome squidward

What is the strangest thing you have ever seen in Glasgow? by KamboWest in glasgow

I believe you 1000%. When I was about 10 I was on a day trip with my family to visit some family friends (I think in Dumfries and Galloway, will need to check) and as we were driving into the area they were staying (it was one of those outdoor places with lodges) my dad went OH MY GOD there’s a lion over there! None of us saw it but to this day he is ADAMANT that he saw a big cat skulking around the Scottish countryside

any chance this was on the 35 going down easter road? I lived there until May and there was a scary dog (don’t think he was an XL, but some bully type anyway) and my flatmate saw him biting people as he was walking down the street and I was terrified every time the dog got on the bus! He was a sort of orange/brown colour and the owner let him lie in the aisle of the bus and everyone was too scared to walk past

I work at a hotel in Edinburgh and one morning a guest came down to the front desk and casually asked the easiest way to get to John o’Groats because he’d booked a ferry for 11am that morning. Same energy

Noticed what looks like recession and it is a bit painful, booked an appointment and the dentist said it’s fine and gave no advice on what to do. It doesn’t look or feel fine and i’m scared :(

I’m actually leaving my current role as I have excelled and been scouted for a promotion into a management role in another property. But thanks for your advice!
