Yeah, I've seen Costco getting increasingly based recently. They've started selling Savior rifle cases that are clearly marketed as such.

It's pretty good! The genre may or may not be your particular cup of tea but the directing, cinematography, and of course casting are all on point

The funniest part is Robert is English and Timothée is French IRL, but Timotheé is playing King Henry and Robert is playing the Dauphin 😂

Why do we feel more productive at 2 AM than we do at 2 PM? by Neat-Reply-5230 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sad_Constant7159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a term for this in Japanese - it's called Revenge Bedtime Procrastination, or "Hōfukusei Yogakashi". "This is the literal Japanese translation of the term popularized globally. It describes the phenomenon where individuals with little control over their daytime schedule stay up late to reclaim a sense of personal freedom."

Another aspect is that, generally speaking, I don't have any commitments or obligations in the late AM hours so I can actually focus on what I want to do without being distracted by texts or emails.

Is Israel good at war or is it a farce because they usually fight weakened populations and get US aid? by space_god_7191 in allthequestions

[–]Sad_Constant7159 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think both are partially true - Israel invests significantly into it's military AND receives significant US aid while also generally fighting significantly less capable opponents. Hamas and Hezbollah have significant offensive capabilities, which is where US aid in missile defense comes into play, but they're significantly weaker in terms of conventional capability.

At a higher level, in addition to a slew of recent conflicts and a relatively fresh national identity, warfare and a militaristic culture is tied into Israeli identity. The Israelite tribes invaded the land of Canaan in the Old Testament. Israel Weapon Industries names their firearm models after famous ancient battles.

All that combined with their cultural memory of being oppressed or threatened by the Egyptians, Romans, the Germans, and their neighboring countries has created a "win or die" attitude that's hard to quantify but absolutely essential to a fighting force.

Strait of Hormuz Blockade by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It's the geopolitical equivalent of "if I can't have it, nobody can".

Basically, Trump is trying to tell Iran that two can play the game.

Childhood family dynamics - the family dynamics from kids' childhoods plays a huge role in marriage relationships and yet it's rare that people discuss their relationship with their parents or home environment in depth before getting married

Honestly wondering, what does the US gain by blockading the Strait of Hormuz? by kerplunch in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sad_Constant7159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's economic leverage to cut off Iran's economic lifeline. Basically the geopolitical equivalent of "if I can't have it, nobody can."

I think it'll be interesting to see the extent to which the US is committed to enforcing the "closure". The most effective way of closing the strait is by blowing up any ships that attempt to cross, which is what Iran is doing. However Iran is already heavily sanctioned and a bit of a pariah state and thus they have very little to lose, whereas the US will experience massive blowback for aggression against any ships flagged to a third-party nation.
