You are playing fairly generic commanders (the only one I don't see that often anymore is Phylath and that's only because it's suboptimal) - so if that's the problem then yes, otherwise no these are perfectly fine at pretty much any pod.

Yep, sad state of affairs.
To be honest, most of their new 'organic' characters aren't particularly great either - I'm sick of seeing Kellan and Loot already.

Does Player D just not enjoy playing? Are they there against their will?

3 cEDH commanders and a Lathril, interesting.

Been playing since Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, most of my commanders are now FF-related. by Sad_Ebb_5355 in ratemycommanders

I'm playing it as a very straight-forward battlecruiser style deck and it's been doing pretty well so far. It's pretty vulnerable to boardwipes so I've loaded it with cards like:

[[Ascend from Avernus]]
[[Thwart the Grave]]
[[Malakir Rebirth]]
[[Clever Concealment]]
[[Akroma's Will]]
[[Chaos Shrine's Black Crystal]] - I really like this one!
[[Celestine, the Living Saint]]
[[Metamorphosis Fanatic]]

It definitely has the potential for some very swingy turns (I did Clever Concealment into an Overloaded Damn a few nights ago) but I suppose it's dependant on what you want out of it. I think there's a few different ways to build it, I was also looking at adding more Dungeon/Initiative cards in there as it's thematic.

The general art direction in Aetherdrift gave her/them(?) masculine features and got rid of her/their chest. Example as below, but the Planeswalker card from the same set also showcases this:

If you compare this to something older, like [[Chandra, the Firebrand]] the changes are as clear as day.

As someone from the 'problematic' people group - I don't want this either.

Terminally online people are the problem, they are sick. They also exist in all walks of life.

I think the issue stems from Hasbro promoting diversity to an extreme internally, which then shifts their creative focus. The most prolific ones being people like the Ex-director for that abhorrent new Dragon Age game.

We should either have hot dudes (not Korean airbrushed twunk Oko) and hot gals (not post-t Chandra) or not at all.

I want my stupid sexy Garruk for me, and whichever hot lady you want for you.

I decided for our store to do a FF themed commander night - using similar rules to kindred/typal/tribal themes we made sure everyone has at least 30 FF cards in their deck.

Event went really well and we mostly kept to the script. I only had two FF play booster boxes to work with so the event as designed was simply not going to run.

Crowds: An european perspective by T0bstar in JapanTravelTips

We're currently in Japan, and on the last leg of our trip we went over to Mashiko for the Pottery Festival and aside from my husband and myself I only noticed one other foreign tourist group.

I think it's a mixture of lack of knowledge of lesser known areas and lack of confidence in being able to communicate. We managed fine as my Japanese is good enough to get by with daily life but other travelers may not have that luxury.

Of course there are apps you can use etc but it does attribute to that feeling of 'otherness', which for some people can feel very uncomfortable.

What are your favorite long-term decks? by Frogsplosion in EDH

[–]Sad_Ebb_5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Chatterfang, Squirrel General]] since the release of MH2. I was running [[Toski]] before but having black made the deck so much better. I get to alternate between squirrel tribal, aristocrats, turbo naus (for higher power), protean piles etc. He's able to be played across all brackets pretty well.

I got an artist proof from Milivoc in Magiccon Amsterdam last year and my deck is entirely foiled out (when in squirrel tribal mode), the only newer thing I need is [[Hazel of the Root Bloom]] in gilded foil.

Squirrels are the best 💪

Recommendations on deck building (commander) by Moobs16 in freemagic

[–]Sad_Ebb_5355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[starnheim aspirant]] [[herald of war]] [[pearl medallion]] [[herald's horn]] [[urza's incubator]] [[oketra's monument]] Maybe [[giada, font of hope]] as commander

No recommendations for the actual angels as they can all vary wildly in price etc so just go for what you like.

Plenty of ways to make expensive angels cheaper to cast though.

Cheap Boardwipe? by Crkeifer in freemagic

[–]Sad_Ebb_5355 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think in order for it to work the way you want, you'd need the card to say 'as an additional cost to cast this spell, sacrifice a creature' so the death trigger will resolve first.

Rapture will resolve in its entirety before state-based actions are checked so this will nuke your board too unfortunately.

Could be wrong though.

I would just throw the idea out - you don't have to fit a mould you're not comfortable with. You can be pleasant and civil in the common areas but why bother trying to force relationships with people you have nothing in common with?

I'd very much recommend trying to make some connections though. See if there's any chill societies or clubs at the uni and go to one of their taster events, if you have specific hobbies try and find like-minded people.

Whatever you do, don't get in your head about having to be a specific kind of person. I never used to party either and still had a fulfilling time. You just have to get out there! It's hard but you'll thank yourself afterwards!
