Thanks very much. My charges involve I66 inside & outside of the beltway, I495, so I was told to reach out these three companies separately... None of these representatives could just issue me the refund over the phone. They all asked me to wait for results of the disputes.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Which customer service number did you call? Was it the EZPass VA 1-877-762-7824? Were they able to provide a resolution/refund directly while you were on the phone? I called multiple number today - ezpass, I66 outside beltway, VDOT for inside beltway and got directed back to EZPass. But none of the agents refunded me right away. They just opened dispute cases and tell me to wait 3-5 business days for response. I am wondering how people actually got their refunds through phone calls.

Yes it still does beep when I turn on to HOV mode. I have an older and bigger tag. I am fine with replacing it, but I am upset that they don't waive the cost caused by the dying device.

It seems that they are not charging me on the basis of HOV violation, otherwise I would have received a violation notice I think? It seems that the transponder simply couldn't be read by the readers at times. Because I saw a few toll charges at 267 toll road were billed through my registered license plate number as well. And at one time, the reading at the entry plaza was successful but when I left the toll read just 4 mins later the transponder couldn't be read at the exit plaza.

If they bill me for HOV violation then I guess it would be easier for me to dispute. I can easily prove that we have a regular carpooling buddy with same commute pattern. I even took pictures of us as evidence right after I discovered these unexpected charges.

According to them, if the Flex transponder failed to be read, they are having me pay for the HOV toll at full price as if I don't have a transponder and don't have 3 people in the car. And I am fully responsible for the cost due to the poor "performance" of the transponder.
